Off to see this guy play again today, always seems to me like one of those players the game passes by, gonna watch him closely today to see if I'm missing something

Shite first half, 2 nervy relegation threatened teams, Belkelba tidy enough, keeps the ball well, just does simple things right, but still feel the prem might be a little quick for him

What is Duverne like? He's another who is versatile and also out of contract.

Has played left back, right back and centre back. Might be useful if any good.

He's useful better defensively than any full back we have, but certainly wouldn't be bombing forward, decent left peg though

On a free as a squad player he'd be useful, I've actually watched him play all 3 positions, just feel we could probably do better

Still really hope if our scouts were watching they take a good look at le douaron

Wasn’t convinced by the highlight video tbh.

Just seemed to dive into tackles where he’d almost certainly be carded in the PL. wasn’t like he was quick enough in position not to have to make a tackle either.

As you’re watching French football, have you seen much of Toulouse? Not Lautrec!

Anyway, it seems their main two midfielders are both out of contract and Toulouse seem to be performing ok.

Branco Van Den Boomen and Stijn Spierings both seem to have deals that run out.

Could they be alternative Doyle and McAtees for central midfield?

Only my opinion obviously spierings not for me from what I've seen, we already have better, van den boomen is interesting, bit of a breakout season for him even though he's 27

Would play a similar role to Berge on the right hand side, not rapid but certainly quick enough, good eye for a pass, can run with the ball and a bit of a set piece expert, he'd certainly be worth a look

Although this is based on limited viewings so you never can tell

Interesting.

What is it you don't fancy at the other lad?

Only reason I ask is that you say we have better but presently our contracted midfield for next year is:

Berge

I think he might need a bit of help!

Like I say I've only seen him a few times this season, but just going on bits I've seen and what I've read, he hasn't been at his best this season, he's more of an attacking midfielder but output has been poor this season

Just a personal opinion based on what I've seen, just feel like van den boomen was a lot better this season, they could probably both do a job, but I'd hope we're aiming higher

Been very impressed with Lees-melou at Brest this season too, played for Norwich in the prem I believe, he's technically very good and scores a few from long range

I'm probably basing a lot on when I saw brest best Toulouse 3-1 Toulouse were very poor that day, seems I'm wrong I thought spierings played as an attacking mid, seems he's been deployed more defensively this season

Maybe why his output is down a bit

Boomen got 12 goals and 21 assists in Ligue 2 last season !

I see that PSV are linked with Spierings, which probably indicates he's the right sort of level for us

Looking at that Toulouse team, they have a 26 year old Danish LCB called Rasmus Nicolaisen who has the right sort of profile and has been a regular in a successful, cup winning season for them. Was at Pompey a while ago
