Boggy (either bone idle or yet another who couldn't be made to fulfil his promise) gone. Slew (massive gamble for relegation-bound Blackburn) gone and £1m in. Quinny & Monty stay.

Got to say that'll do for me. What a crazy way to run a multi-billion pound industry. Some clubs have shown all the desperation of those who trashed Ikea when it had a sale. Sunderland seem to have a death wish. They sell Bent and replace him with Jones, fast-fading Gyan and now Bendtner.

Happiest club? Got to be Everton who, even though they've lost Arteta have somehow managed to recoup all £4m for proven lower-league striker Beckford from those mugs at Leicester (and still have Jags who seems way off the pace and a bit overweight now).

p.s. £10m for Crouch? WTF?

Just confirmed on Rangers' site:

"Sheffield United have swooped to sign Rangers duo John Fleck and Kyle Hutton on season-long loans.

The midfield pair are highly rated with Fleck, in particular, tipped for a bright future at Ibrox. The duo represent a considerable coup for Blades boss Danny Wilson, who has already guided his new side to 13 points from their opening five npower League One games."

I thought that they got Beckford on a free and i would imagine their lack of activity coupled with the loss of their most talented player would leave the toffee fans amongst the most unhappy.

An Everton supporting friend of mine is furious and at an absolute loss as to how they have been raped of their star player so late in the day.

Not just star player, having sold Beckford and Yakubu do they have any strikers left at all? Anichebe doesn't count...

Blackburn did well to sign Scott Dann but they're in trouble if they think Yakubu is going to score the goals to save them.

They also sold James Vaughan to Norwich earlier this transfer window - that's 3 strikers and 1 hell of a creative midfielder gone. Everton may well find themselves in trouble this season if they're not careful.
As for Blackburn, it'll be their other deadline day striker signing that fires the goals in... :bummer:

They'll be saved by the old adage that there are 3 sides worse: Blackburn, Swansea and Norwich. Wigan will be down there too but I think Neil's done a decent job strengthening at QPR - even if it does involve Jar-Jar Ferdinand.

aye, that same article (an official press release?) is also on teamtalk now.

Didn't it say on Wikipedia that one of the two loan players had looked a good prospect but had some kind of bust up with McCoist!?

Sure it said on Sky this morning that one was for 3 months and the other was until the end of the season!?

Either way, I think we look pretty stable after the deadline and don't see many moves to teams in our division that seem to have added a great deal of strength.

Hutton was kidnapped at knife point & bundled into the boot of his own car a couple of years ago.

He is also due in court on a speeding charge (103mph) later this month.

Fleck is the nephew of Robert Fleck.

Did they make it or not? This site reckons not :(

http://sport.stv.tv/football/scotti...d-flecks-sheffield-united-move-falls-through/

'The Rangers duo were due to head for League One until the end of the season, but the Blades failed to process the necessary paperwork in time.

Partick Thistle have since expressed an interest in taking Hutton to Firhill on a three-month loan, having pursued the midfielder throughout the transfer window.

Sheffield United remained hopeful on Thursday that a deal could yet be pushed through, with the Scottish FA having done everything necessary at their end.

But the English Football League have told STV that the deal is now off. "The relevant paperwork was not submitted in time," a spokesperson for the Football League confirmed.

There are no provisions for the players to move to England on an emergency loan basis, with clubs down south only able to make such deals with other English sides.'

I am given to believe that they will both be here by the end of next week. Watch this space.....

To clarify fl say they didn't get paper work till 2308 but blades has proof it was sent before 2300.however they got an error report! #faxes

Its 2011 and nobody at SUFC has yet mastered the simple 'scan, attach, send' procedure.

Apparently in his press conference today Wilson has said they're still in negotiations with the officials about the move. Not a done deal, but not dead yet either.

Surely that means that the football league does not accept scan & email for this process not Blades unable to master it?
If fax or physical is the only choice of medium the EFL will accept for transfer paperwork then it is pretty stupid to expect all deals to be completed by the deadline - especially if they only have one fax line (probably a mux - but it will still have a finite capacity).

It's not always down to official ineptitude at our club.
