Happy Fathers Day

Had to laugh this morning when Kate Bottley on her Radio 2 programme wished her dad a happy father's day and said he wouldn't be too disappointed not to see her today as he's used to disappointment being a Sheffield United fan !

My stepson is nearly 17, and I'd describe our relationship as strained at the best of times.

All year he's shown me not one ounce of respect or caring, but he's just given me a card where inside he wrote "thank you for being the father that I never had, I really appreciate all you do for me".

Nearly blubbed there and then.

I’m still awaiting my Father’s Day card and present. Last night I picked him up in town after he had been to a gig and gave him a lift to mine and dropped 3 of his mates off around High Green and Chap.

Then this morning he told he had forgotten to get it from his Mums, but he’ll give it to me tomorrow and told me it’s a United book that he has got from Meadowhall. Then we had a walk and he took me for breakfast at Spoons, only for him to have forgotten his bank card, so I had to pay for it.

Got home from work tonight and found the present, a card thanking me for everything that I do for him, and about £8 in Sharpnel on the table to pay for my breakfast.

Mine left home 2 months ago, today took me out for a meal, and even though I ended up spending more than him, we had a great time, he did the Bill for the snap, then handed me a case of beer and some peanut M&Ms..

Over the moon as we say..

Hey Dad. Thanks for being the black sheep in the family, and actually having some taste in Football teams you rebellious sod.
