Hamers attitude

Has anyone thought that he may have been told to get a yellow? Miss the Norwich and Brum games so that he's available for Wrexham? He was going to get that yellow sooner or later so why not now?

I'm not on the get rid side. We are not going ro get better than Hamer in midfield next season. Sign him up again, he's only 28 and still has 4 to 5 good years in him.

Why is playing against Wrexham more important than playing against Norwich or Birmingham?

A more difficult game? Beat Wrexham and the very slight chance of the playoffs is still there. Lose to Wrexham then there's definitely no chance.

Seems unlikely anyone thought up that scenario and instructed Hamer to purposely get booked.

I think even Wilder accepted the play offs were gone when we lost to Coventry a couple of weeks ago.

Agreed he can make the magic happen on occasions and when it comes off, it looks terrific such as the pass to Ogbene, some of Hamers top draw goals too however he can’t defend or backtrack, he isn’t physically fit enough to be a link up player so you end up with Bamford dropping deeper for the ball for him to offload to Hamer. He isn’t the exact like for like but McCallum can play on the left if we reshaped the side when fit with O’hare behind Bamford or Canon/Campbell. If a cheeky bid came in for Hamer the sensible thing to do is accept it, we can offload some wages too and it might be an area we look to improve on
True, he is the kind of player you have to kind of build your team around to get the best out of him. That can be a problem when he has a bad game and the rest of the team has to compensate. He's a bit of a maverick and maybe I'm biased because I like that about him.
But I completely understand the argument that there's a good chance the team as a unit might be better without him.

You say we havent got the best out of him , he was voted the best player in the division last season. I love him,his carefree attitude, he is brilliant off the pitch as well as on it, attends everything with a smile on his face. Hes a bit daft on the pitch sometimes , but he is the most skillful player we have had since Ndiaye , has unreal vision and contributes to most goals.
His ball through for bamford against Boro, his goal against Brum, his free kick v Sisu ,very few players can do this,
Hes the type of player I go to football for.
When he was with us we had a squad of dross and 3 good players. We had Hamer and Gyokeres scoring and setting up all the goals that made up for those we constantly let in. Hamer ran the show nearly every game in the middle. The second best 1.5m we ever spent. He is limited on the left. In the middle he can put them balls in on both sides that releases players.

It always seems to be the more creative players that get stick from our fans, it doesn’t baffle me anymore. They’re going to try and create a goal scoring opportunity and more than likely lose the ball in doing so because it’s usually a defence splitter type pass, this is when having another 10 players on the pitch can help matters if we do lose it then help to win it back and go again.

I know, let’s get him passing it backwards all the time, whilst keeping hold of the ball and bore us all to death, at least Davies will get a lot of touches then, we can then lose the ball after Davies pumps it up the pitch aimlessly anyway, fuck me fire!

Got to love the Wilder haters in this thread 🤣
Yep. We were dead and buried this season with the players confidence on the floor before he came back. Most of us were resigned to relegation along with the pigs.

I know CW isn’t perfect as I’m sure he’d admit himself, but I say careful what you wish for……

Guy can't run anymore and he's cooked after 60 minutes. When he's played in the middle for us we've been run ragged. I'd like to see him in a free role with instructions not to come in our half. He can conserve energy and focus on hurting the opponent then. I thought he was the 2nd best player in Champ when we signed him (after Ndiaye). Overall he's been disappointing except the 1st season when he did well in a dire Prem team.

So much revisionism from the Wilder derangement syndrome lot. We had a disastrous summer window (our worst ever pound for pound?) and were staring relegation in the face. Our team couldn't even run around due to the dire fitness and conditioning of the squad. Even now they're not at the level they should be. The Jairo and Bamford signings on frees were masterstrokes. And we'd be 7th if the season started at Wilder's 1st game with all that going on?

I’m still puzzled why Seriki was on the bench, even if he was not in great form, he’s always going to be a threat going forward. He’s one of those players that would alter an oppositions game plan.

on that performance hamer should be dropped anyway as should his pal o'hare yes i know he runs about a lot but with very little end product pathetic decision by wilder to only play 1 striker against a team who havent won in 11 yes wilder has stabalised us after selles but hes not the man to get us back in the premier league

What? 😂

He needed to avoid yellows in 2 more games. But he's too thick to do that.

but that won't stop the slashers mate. Slashers gotta slash.

This season is over, let's see what CW can do next season with probably an inferior squad. He's then got a full season to progress on this.

Still doesn't make any sense whatsoever. All 3 are hard games
It does make sense Hamer was saying he wants away! What other reason can there be for deliberately getting booked .He was well aware one more booking would mean a 2 match ban! Last seconds of the match and slags off the ref ! He would know it meant a 2 match ban.
I've seen some crazy things done by players ! This one just beyond anything in the past.
I hope a journalist asks Wilder about it his response would be interesting as basically Hamer was telling him to get stuffed.

I have no idea what some of you people want. His job is to be a playmaker, to create chances. Picked up his 8th assist in 9 games today to move top of the Championship assist ranking, despite playing out of position and getting randomly dropped through most of January.

We'd be fucked going forward without him. Utterly fucked. Unfortunately next season I'm sure we'll find that out the hard way.
Our best performances and run of results all came with him out of the team, O'Hare out on the left in a 442.

we took an energetic, tough, scrappy, box to box central midfielder and have turned him into an out of shape, ill disciplined maverick that makes the team play worse in exchange for the occasional flash of brilliance.

Doesn't matter which games he misses ..played offs are gone..we,re nowhere near consistent enough .

Hamer can go for me. It's clear that he's no athlete, incapable of getting and staying fit and a prime example of the fitness issue that we had last season and this.
Occasional 'moments' now, and that's about it.
Time he got called out by Wilder, in public, as much as he seems prepared to do with others.

Had some good results in that period, but I'd argue the biggest factor that changed was bringing Bamford and Riedewald in. Finally giving us an in-form forward and some defensive steel in midfield. Like I mentioned earlier, Hamer only came back in because we lost back to back games, and that's when he started his unbelievable run of assists.

Love Gus on his day a brilliant player, however Saturday and most of this season he has been very frustrating to watch - if he applied as much passion into his game as he does mouthing off at the officials he would be a world beater and not applying his trade in the Championship
