Good luck to Gus,lovely player and creator of magic moments but that is what they were. Hope he does well,he will certainly get fitter and probably played in his favoured position.

One’s a Ballon d’or winner and one has spent a single season in the PL 🤷‍♀️
But apart from that...

I'll never understand this weight arguement. Some players have different builds. It's genetics etc. They can't change being a bit short and stocky. Some people used to call Rooney fat as well 🤦
And part of the reason he's long washed up as a footballer.. you are right some of it is genetic and the player can't be blamed for it but it can limit their ceiling as a footballer. Messi and maradona are generational freaks not the norm

Cant argue against anyone being pessimistic, its more the complete negative narrative with nothing positive to say.

Hamer going isnt now making us relegation. We will bring people in maybe 1 full signing and loans. I dont think we will make play offs, but we wont be relegated.

Wilder will be a lot different having a full season.

Yes, an additional six games for Wilder will make a world of difference.

We actually had a better win percentage in games he didn't start last season.

He can turn a game on its head in the blink of an eye, but we didn't miss him last season like people are making out.

I agree. It always felt like the whole team were waiting on him to do something amazing to drag us out a hole when they should have been more effective as a unit. Doesn’t help him not being played in his best position half the time either.
Maybe if we get some wingers it’ll add more balance with COH through the middle

gus hamer was a great player for us and probably irreplacable but playing premier league and probably doubling his salary think it was inevitable but we move on no one player is bigger than the club lets hope we can now bring in 2 or 3 quality loans in

I loved Gus, always capable of the absolute spectacular. We haven’t seen many as good as him in the last 60 yrs. Only a handful. He stayed longer than I expected, never a mardy arse. Hope he goes to Coventry and rips it up, like here he’s loved there. Good luck Gus and thanks to some super memories.

All the svelte fuckers on here saying he’s fat 🤣🤣
Takeaway ‘jokes’ and the phrase ‘culture carriers’ have finally seen the retirement of the ‘broken fax machine’ as the gag d’jour.

Yes and no. When it condemns us to more likely scrapping at the bottom than the top (half), we should have drawn a line in the sand. Coventry can afford £10m. And they can't get many better players than him, certainly not that know the club and is already loved by the fans.
At the same time, if they say £6m or fuck off, then us saying "no eight figures please" keeps Hamer on our books. If you won the lottery would you start paying £20 a pint just because you could?

If that was the way to get drunk, yes

Bet the players are all buzzing about the match today...
They should be buzzing every day.

There’s folks sat at a desk 60 hours a week who spent years studying and others digging holes in the road grafting in the pissing rain.

They work about 3 hours a day for 5 or 6 days a week and get about 6 weeks off in the summer if not 7. They get shuttled everywhere, get put in decent accommodation, couple of meals a day provided and most of the decision making in life is managed by someone else.

They’re the luckiest folk alive.

Make it to a decent level and you can be be earning in a month what the Prime Minister earns in a year.

So yeah, they should be buzzing 🤣

Fair!

Wilder said Hamer and 1 or 2 others too in his post match so hopefully that’s mcguiness and someone else like Grbic or something

Surely without another CB lined up we're not moving on McGuinness. Especially not if played today

Are you dense? They're bringing money in for an asset, rather than letting him walk away for free... And then not replacing. It's the literal definition of asset stripping.

We had a similar interaction on another post a few days but are you seriously this thick??

Genuinely what is it about having circa £40m less money coming into the club this season than last season are you not getting?

Yes we can trim the wage bill, which we have, but unless you're basically not going to employ anyone on the football side of the business which is maybe a slight issue for, you know, an actual football team then you aren't going to make up that shortfall without player sales.
