Doubt he’d end up at Wrexham.

If he did then I see Brighton have made Tommy Watson available for loan.

Wouldn’t be a bad addition.

Surely there's no chance, would be surprised if he went to Coventry or Ipswich, never mind another midtable team.

Assume he'll end up abroad like Anel and Souza.
Yesterday may have changed the thinking a little. Win next weekend and then have the Oxford game in hand and that probably tips the scale to see if we can mount an unlikely Play Off push.

And went off with cramp.

After not playing properly for a few weeks it will have been a planned substitution.

He saw cannon getting ready and went down to take the sting out of the game a bit.

Hell have known in advance he was going off around the 70 minute mark.

He might have been feeling the pace of the game a bit after putting a decent shift in. It was right in front of me and it certainly looked like he was intentionally slowing the game down a bit which is pretty common practise.

Went down at the far side of the pitch, then walked slowly off with the physio. Smart use of the dark arts

Still a key player for us, for 60 mins a game at least. Would hate to see him sold to a rival and I’m not sure he’s going to be worth much more now than he is in the summer so we may as well keep hold of him until then.

I don’t think it’s a dead cert he leaves at all.

Wilder mentioned a couple of weeks ago that they’d floated the idea of a new contract to his representatives and they were waiting to see what his appetite was like for it.

I’ll be cancelling my Disney + if we sell him last minute to shit like Wrexham.

Fair enough if he goes back home to to a big European league but not another championship club.

Danny Hall also said recently he wasn’t agitating for a move and was still happy enough in Sheffield. I don’t think Wilder starts him yesterday if he was pushing for a move.

i thought that as well surely he wouldnt have started.yesterday if he was being sold just a pity we made a balls of the last 2 away games where we should have got 4pts that would have sat us 6/7 points off a play off place with a game in hand and bamford's stupid 2.yellows yesterday havent helped at all

Keep him. Continue to build the side around him.

That is, of course, unless family happiness becomes the driving factor.

I expect him to have a big uptick in form between now and the end of the season

He'll be playing for his last big contract

Remember: bigger contract = bigger fridge, more sausages, more takeaways, more booze and more sustainable luxury chocolate habits

It seems that Trabzonspor are the frontrunners according to the article, unless he is need of new teeth, I don't think it is the best destination for him. He has mentioned previously of being home sick/family issues, so going to Turkey surely wouldn't be of benefit. I know Sheffield isn't exactly fashion central but Trabzon is literally in the back end of no-where on the Black-sea coast. But saying that if they are offering their offer of £5-6million like apparently they did last season it would be difficult from our side of things to turn it down and it would be up to Hamer to agree personal terms

Wonder if the reason for his drop off is he’s a bit upset no proper European club is interested in an out of shape 30 year old.

If not for recent events I’d have put money on him trying to wangle a move to Saudi.

We've seen the best of him that we're going to. He has very occasional 'moments'. Unconcerned if he goes. GLTTL wherever he ends up.

I think he’s a petulant little shit. But he’s the only one who dares do anything different, proper throwback to when players weren’t drones and thought fuck it i’m going to take charge. We’ll miss him, but I won’t be too sad.

we wont miss him as much as we would have done 6 months ago hes become too petulant for me constantly arguing with refs reminds me of mcburnie in his last few months for us so i would sell if any reasonable fee was offered for him use the cash and his salary and go all out to bring ros berkeley in

I would push to sell Hamer, the money we could get would allow us to strengthen the team better on a whole, bringing in likes Jordan James & Prince Junior.

Same with peck, I would sell (not that I dont like him) to then be able to recruit accross the team.

Prince Junior?

Not fussed if Hamer goes. First thing the recruitment team should be looking at is square pegs in square holes.....we have too much imbalance this season.

The summer is going to be interesting as the mistakes of the close season have bitten us on the arse quite badly.
removing Wilder and replacing him with Selles turned out to be the death of the season after as little as 6 games in.
The upheaval meant that we didnt get the proper pre-season that we needed and the players havent caught up on this.
We had a spell where we looked to be developing some form and there were slim hopes of catching the top 6. Recent results have ended any glimmer of hope.

Now we go into next season having to trim the squad/wage bill.

Obvious probable departures include Hamer who will be a top earner in the last year of his contract.
Whilst he has been hit and miss through the season, his stats for assists/goals is still quite impressive. He will be a big gap to fill (and i dont just mean his physique 🤣). The problem is, with 12 months of his contract remaining, the fee we could receive will likely be on the lower side. I think we would struggle to get much more than 5 Million.
Others likely to be considered for departure will include ones that we could get a decent fee for (Peck, Brooks). I would like to see Brooks stay. He has shown progression through the season and is a player that will continue to improve in the coming seasons.
Peck may want to leave. I think he has ambitions to get to the top league sooner rather than later. He has the attributes and playing with players of higher ability will show how good he can be. Is he replaceable? yes.

This is where we could see the best of Wilder. he has shown that he is a little inconsistent when given large sums of money but has an eye for a bargain.
Bringing in players with a lower reputation but with potential and building a cohesive team of players who are willing to battle for each other whilst being organised and efficient is how he developed us the first time he came in. He could easily do the same again with the financial constraints he is going to be under.
Looking at the current team/squad and taking into account possible departures, there is likely to be a lot of business needed.

Players I see being considered for next season: (Assuming 4411 or 442)
GK - Cooper (If regains fitness/form) - Need a capable No.2 challenger (Tickle?)
LB - Burrows (if can regain form)/McCallum (if regains fitness) - Capable of covering this position
CB - Tanganga (needs to regain early season form).
CB - ? - Dont think McGuinness is the answer and Mee probably wont be renewed
RB - Seriki - Need someone to challenge/cover. Shackleton isnt the option (serial crock)
LM - ? - Think Hamer leaves. Chong isnt the answer. Need 1/2 brought in.
CM - Riedewald/Peck (if an offer doesnt come in for him)
CM - Rothwell (Wilder brought him in for next season and will push him into the team)/Arblaster (if regains form/fitness)
RM - Brooks (If no sizeable offer comes in) - need cover/challenge
AM/ST - O'Hare (Has to be in the side for his pressing ability and build up play/Cannon (Wilder will persist with him)
ST - Bamford - Think Campbell will be allowed to move on if an offer comes in.

Looking at the above, we need to move on the likes of McGuinness, Shackleton (if he ever regains fitness), Matos, Chong.
I dont see new contract for Ings, Mee, Davies A, Davies T.
We could see offers for Hamer, Brooks, Seriki, maybe Campbell
The loans will return. I would like to see us look at a possible return for Bindon as a CB option though.
This means we will need to bring in a GK, CB x2, RB, LM x2, CM, ST x2. We will also need to look at some creative attacking players as options.
Make no mistake, its going to be a mammoth task.
I'm fairly excited to see what happens.......
