The summer is going to be interesting as the mistakes of the close season have bitten us on the arse quite badly.
removing Wilder and replacing him with Selles turned out to be the death of the season after as little as 6 games in.
The upheaval meant that we didnt get the proper pre-season that we needed and the players havent caught up on this.
We had a spell where we looked to be developing some form and there were slim hopes of catching the top 6. Recent results have ended any glimmer of hope.
Now we go into next season having to trim the squad/wage bill.
Obvious probable departures include Hamer who will be a top earner in the last year of his contract.
Whilst he has been hit and miss through the season, his stats for assists/goals is still quite impressive. He will be a big gap to fill (and i dont just mean his physique

). The problem is, with 12 months of his contract remaining, the fee we could receive will likely be on the lower side. I think we would struggle to get much more than 5 Million.
Others likely to be considered for departure will include ones that we could get a decent fee for (Peck, Brooks). I would like to see Brooks stay. He has shown progression through the season and is a player that will continue to improve in the coming seasons.
Peck may want to leave. I think he has ambitions to get to the top league sooner rather than later. He has the attributes and playing with players of higher ability will show how good he can be. Is he replaceable? yes.
This is where we could see the best of Wilder. he has shown that he is a little inconsistent when given large sums of money but has an eye for a bargain.
Bringing in players with a lower reputation but with potential and building a cohesive team of players who are willing to battle for each other whilst being organised and efficient is how he developed us the first time he came in. He could easily do the same again with the financial constraints he is going to be under.
Looking at the current team/squad and taking into account possible departures, there is likely to be a lot of business needed.
Players I see being considered for next season: (Assuming 4411 or 442)
GK - Cooper (If regains fitness/form) - Need a capable No.2 challenger (Tickle?)
LB - Burrows (if can regain form)/McCallum (if regains fitness) - Capable of covering this position
CB - Tanganga (needs to regain early season form).
CB - ? - Dont think McGuinness is the answer and Mee probably wont be renewed
RB - Seriki - Need someone to challenge/cover. Shackleton isnt the option (serial crock)
LM - ? - Think Hamer leaves. Chong isnt the answer. Need 1/2 brought in.
CM - Riedewald/Peck (if an offer doesnt come in for him)
CM - Rothwell (Wilder brought him in for next season and will push him into the team)/Arblaster (if regains form/fitness)
RM - Brooks (If no sizeable offer comes in) - need cover/challenge
AM/ST - O'Hare (Has to be in the side for his pressing ability and build up play/Cannon (Wilder will persist with him)
ST - Bamford - Think Campbell will be allowed to move on if an offer comes in.
Looking at the above, we need to move on the likes of McGuinness, Shackleton (if he ever regains fitness), Matos, Chong.
I dont see new contract for Ings, Mee, Davies A, Davies T.
We could see offers for Hamer, Brooks, Seriki, maybe Campbell
The loans will return. I would like to see us look at a possible return for Bindon as a CB option though.
This means we will need to bring in a GK, CB x2, RB, LM x2, CM, ST x2. We will also need to look at some creative attacking players as options.
Make no mistake, its going to be a mammoth task.
I'm fairly excited to see what happens.......
