Humility? The one thing missing by many on here. When you were good and we were poor I was welcomed by just about everyone. Now the tables have turned? But I still want you to do well and hope you don't go down the route we did.

What you're missing about Hamer at our club is we had Hamer and Gyokeres. The rest of the squad were not very good. We had 2 players carry us to.the playoff final against Luton. Hamer went off injured then our chances were over. You had some very good players with him.

Some posters on here might think you are a bit of a bore, with too much time on their hands to spend time posting on the forums of other clubs, and may not like it and see fit to make scurrilous accusations that you are a bore or a bit of a sad cunt. Not me Champ. I find your posts very interesting and educational

Bloody hell, some of the invaders are a bit keen aren't they? I'll be looking on at Frank Lampards Coventry City results with added interest this year. Hoping for good things...

Best of luck to him. Was hoping for a wee bit more but sounds like there was only Coventry in for him and we need some cash and to not lose him for nothing.

Be interesting to see how he gets on.

And be interesting to see who we replace him with. I have a feeling one of our main targets is Dan James but he was a right sided player. But might fit the narrative of being available late in window.

Him on the right, Chong on the left, O'Hare in the middle, could work.

You’re not reading the same posts I am reading, then. Many spout a DOF is the answer.

Well if that's genuinely the case then I apologise and the people posting that are just plain wrong.

A DOF is only the start of the overhaul NOT the only bit of it.

Getting £6m for Hamer is good business.

No intrest from anywhere other than Cov and only 6 months from being able to agree terms elsewhere and leave for nothing.

From a football perspective we'll have to find a way other than " give it to gus" and at least the coaching staff can now look for a set up and style without him being on the teamsheet.

Good player but theres more than one way of playing , time to move on .

GLTTL , he's earnt his PL payday...for a season anyway .

Every single Blades fan now knowing the tables have turned and it's time to watch your club go through some dark times. He's Brazilian, he only cost a few million and we think he's fucking brilliant Gustaaaaaaaavo. Imagine paying £15m for a player from a club and then selling him back to the same club for not even half of what you originally paid. Everything about Sheffield is a shit hole and the only good things I can think of are the Crucible and Sheffield Wednesday.

You're a bit of a weirdo aren't ya mate

Who do we replace him with now. Ideally someone with a bit of pace and creativity but that comes at a price. Don't really want a loan as would prefer permanent. I'm saying this again Abdul Abdulmalik from Boreham Wood!
Think Wilder said yesterday, any transfers will be frees and loans. Sounded like we are going to use our small bit of cash for the CB (£8m for Souttar seems too much but I would probably agree its the number 1 position that needs someone in).

Not sure who is still floating about in the free market, so guessing LM will be a loan.

I had no issue at all with them but now I've seen enough. Will be checking on this clown whenever they get dicked next season. It's like they've had their first beer. This is just a tiny taste of how insufferable Wednesday would be as well. Must be the nearly 25 years of being utter wank that makes them so giddy. Such a nothing club/place my instinct is usually pity for clubs like them. They'll soon find out how fun the Premier league is. I'm sure they'll make lots of rivals in their own imagination while they're up there though.

Mentioned it in another thread but it’s another player we’ve got on big wages that absolutely no one values as much as we do, and no one seems to be asking why.

We’re really lucky Cov have an emotional connection and can afford to have a cheap punt on him.

I will genuinely miss Gus, exciting player to watch and great with a free kick. Not many players get you out of your seat these days as most teams play to a system rather than allowing individual players to be a bit of a maverick.

He stayed longer than he needed to, I did expect him to leave when we got relegated but has ended staying another 2 seasons. If we end up getting half the price we bought him for plus a bit extra later on then it's a solid deal given his fitness and age.

If if he ever became available to us again in the future I'd take him back in a heartbeat but I expect after Coventry he will likely go back to the Netherlands to end his career.

Once the squad registration has been completed for the prem, we may get an idea of who is available on loan. I dont really want a player who has not played any senior football and we are there first club.

Its just worrying that if it a loan. Come next year, both potentially our right and left wingers will be going back to there club and we back to square one.

I don't really follow the U'18s but for the people that do. do we have anyone with a touch of flair we could introduce into the first team?

It adds to Wilder's and other managers argument that the transfer window should close before both the PL and EFL season start. It means you would know who is available for loan or transfer much sooner.

100%

To add to this. I'm a big believer that the PL and EFL should start on the same day. Would help with these elite clubs in European competition saying they fixture congestion etc. When it's a world cup, all for the fixtures to be put back a week or 2, but i have no issue of starting the league schedule this early. What happens if we have a decent cup run in both the league and F.A cup? With the internation breaks. We could have several months of playing both Saturday/Wednesday and for teams with small ish squads, its going to have a huge effect!

If he had 2 years on his contract, we would be demanding more than 10 mill! Maybe even 15!

I really rate Gus and his creativity. You cant teach that! Yes he could have been a tad more athletic. But he could really find a pass and score a worldie. He got fans of their seats when he had the ball!

There could have been other interest from Coventry but if he has already decided that's where he wants to return then no point putting the rod out to look for a bite.

To all the Coventry fans on here:

1. Buying a player off another club is a normal thing, not a personal attack on the selling club, not something to be avenged
2. Buying the player back isn’t “Karma” for an imagined wrongdoing, because we didn’t do anything wrong in buying him. Also, our current manager had nothing to do with it
3. We didn’t care about your club or owners one way or another until your selective “protest whistling” (only when we were attacking) became a tactic to put our players off. Watch the match back.
4. We still don’t care about you or your owners
5. We will carry on as a club without Gus, as good as he was
6. You are making people who bore you no ill will before hoping that your team fails miserably next season, just by being absolutely bellends.

That is it. Without being rude, they've been starved of any relevance for so long. But I am sure it is like all fanbases, who have their collection of village idiots. There must be a large, silent proportion who aren't weirdos on here or social media, who are grateful for the season ahead and the opportunity, having almost gone bust.

I also anticipate the 'what on earth did Sheffield United do to Gus Hamer' when they get a player back different to the one who left.

Oh, I am definitely getting to the point where I hope they struggle miserably, but that Gus is just largely ineffective, less fit or a bit of a passenger. I think they will be straight back down and he will then leave or after a year in the championship.

Put it this way, it is no way comparable to boyhood Blade Billy Sharp coming home to captain the club to the most successful period of the modern era.
