He's got one year left on his contract.
He can't last more than 60 minutes at THIS level.
If he stays great, he is an asset.
But I very much doubt we'll get more than £5 million for him.
Anything less say fuck off. £5 million or more, snatch their hand off.

Its not quite as simple as that .

Wages , contract length offered will all play a part and ultimately it'll if the player wants to go . Theres leverage on both sides
 
Why don't we try and get a player from them as part of the deal plus cash?

Simms is a fantastic striker but currently we do have a few in that position and doubt wilder would play to his strengths.

Markelo is a winger they brought last year and although didn't play that much he went there for over 4mill and rangers were enquiring about him last week.

Kitchen is a good left footed centre half. Very old school and only from down the road

Kai Andrews is very highly rated and has a good physical presence for a person his age. Maybe worth to enquire about a loan.

At the end of the day, they had a very good squad who walked this league so I think most of their players would definitely get into our starting 11.
 
Loaning a player from Cov to aid their development while our best player goes to them for a pittance...

We’ll see, right now I can’t see past those two. A this stage it’s all a guessing game, but their squad is very strong.

Wolves have Jimenez & West Ham have Bowen. Not bad options.

i would take simms as part of any deal for hamer hes better than cannon and campbell and wont do owt at premier league level 5m plus simms and they can have hamer and that 5m would get us souttar over the line

If we're conceding plenty of opportunities down our left then that's on Wilder to fix. He's either got to manage Hamer (aka his job, despite moaning about how his players shouldnt need any coaching) and make him help Burrows/McCallum or move him in to a role with less defensive responsibilities.

Can't last more than 60 minutes? More often than not he completes 90. Not sure why that story keeps coming up.
 
I can never help but notice Hamer has actually been more successful with us than he was at Coventry.
More goals and assists in Red and White, in less appearances.
That being said, if he does stay he’ll have played more for us by mid-October than any other club.

Given they just paid about 27m for some Ghanaian midfielder they can bugger off being skinflints over Hamer.

If they aren’t prepared to pay out an eight figure sum then piss off!

doesnt alter the fact that hamer is worth far more than a measly 5m even if he goes for free in 12 months 10m should be our starting price and who knows if we keep him he may help us to promotion
 
Now that Coventry have spent 28m on a new midfielder does that mean they've dropped Hamer from their list of wanted, because there's no way Hamer would be playing a head of that new midfielder

To be fair, I personally think that this would be a great idea, if Gus does want to go. Although the quality isn't replaceable, it isn't every match that he steps up and there are other options that we can look at there from within the squad. Kitching is from Harrogate and a Leeds academy player, he made 37 starts last season (1 sub) pretty much playing a full 90 every week which is what we need. Availability is key for us and although not the greatest to get rid of Gus, a trade like this would make a lot of sense, a position we need more of and make sure its a permanent both ways. He is 27 in September so starting to hit his prime as a CB.

My only worry is his pace. I can count on 1 hand how many times ive watched Coventry this year. But it looks like he is treading in honey when hes turning. He does seem to have a bit of aggression which i think would add a bit to this side and can see him working really well with Wilder.

Kaine Kesler Hayden would be a choice. Great RB and was signed I believe as replacement for their other starting Van Ewijk who didn't end up leaving. Young, fast and also an attacking threat!

Agreed regarding pace but the physicality and also positional awareness should help close that gap a bit, similar to how we saw Mee slot in at LCB. Pretty handy in the air too which makes a change.
