We arent in the premier league anymore, the standards of the whole club have dropped.

As much as I support this move, and I do, I've been to gigs and stuff before only to get showered in ale. Including my own. And after having stood for 15 minutes waiting for one on the kop, it'd be awful to get to my seat just to chuck it up.

Corporate areas even pull the blinds down so you can't see the pitch while drinking. THAT is pathetic.

I still don’t understand why people buy booze at halftime. By the time it rolls around, you’re only an hour or so from an actual pub and you’re guaranteed to miss some of the game. Bit different at the cricket because you can drink in your seat and it’s all day, but football?

It’s like buying food. Why do people wait until 2:45 to buy overpriced soggy food having walked past god knows how many better, cheaper places outside?

Doesn’t bother me, none of my business. But I just don’t get it….

For a 3pm kick off you’ll likely have been drinking for 3 hours before kick off, and need a bump to get you through to the next pub.

And there are people employed to monitor it. When we’ve had boxes on John Street we’ve been told that “someone” can see us boozing in the box.

By half time you’ve already had well over an hour off it though. And only an hour to the next pub. Guaranteed to miss part of the reason you’re there for a pint of flat Carlsberg.

I just don’t get it!

We have a sweepstake around us for how long a couple in front of us actually will see of a game each week. 25 minutes of the first half and 30 mins of the 2nd half at most (obviously watch on the TVs in the concourse whilst watching the game). I won the Preston game at 52 minutes. Similarly, on Wednesday had different seats in JSS (thanks btw to whoever sorted out that I was pinged yesterday my result is negative) but there was a group of 4 lads who arrived at 8.00, left for half time at 8.20, came back at 8.55 and comfortably missed the equaliser. Penalties, what penalties?

Works well in Germany as the new grounds are built with ample space. Been to a few of the larger grounds like HSV’s and Koln’s and the space you have makes it fine to have a drink and not worry about spillage. Would never work at Bramall lane as it's so compact - especially when busy.

Plus - our choice of “refreshments” is absolutely pityfull. Unless I've got the taste of beer or someones buying I usually avoid..

Went Hamburg once and a lad turned round and said how he was pissed off they’d changed breweries. The beer was still absolutely amazing compared to Heineken or Carling we offer. Even Wednesday have that shit Thornbridge beer in their stands. If it were to happen there’d need to be an overall of suppliers.

In fairness the Neck Oil on offer in most parts of BL is top notch. At £5 its no more expensive than in pubs.

You are right in terms of the ground not being fit to accommodate people boozing throughout the game. At the beamback for the Northampton game in '17 getting showered in ale wasn't really a problem but there was a 20 min queue for drinks throughout the whole game.

Bundesliga grounds are nearly all modern and purpose built for their kind of matchday 'experience'. Bringing back standing and allowing drinking during games is going to be a massive change and may even dictate future crowds etc. People will expect more from their match day than being crammed in like cattle and forced to wait 30 mins for a crap £5 pint followed by a 15 min queue for a piss, especially if other clubs are doing it better.

Clubs will have to adapt which may well mean losing the remaining traditional stadia in the top 2 leagues.

Passes half time on though and often I wont have chance to go to the pub before or after so nice to have a drink while I'm there if I can. Sat with family on BL Upper for Huddersfield game and there was no queue whatsoever so it was quite civilised strolling down for a pot once the game had stopped and was back in my seat for the restart.

This does sound like how the system should work. The Kop and South Stand however are a different world…

52 minutes? That's some going. I dare say I managed 32 the other week 😂😂

I'm moving to the aisle seat this week though as I annoyed a few of them doing the sideways shuffle to the bogs what must have been a record number of times.

If you need alcohol to get through a match must be crap football.... personally I like a couple of pints

God didn't realise how desperate people must be to drink at inflated prices .... shant be wasting my money in or out of the ground in future.... bought my ST they ain't getting a penny more!

That is such a truism Klaatu Barada Nikto, I can’t imagine going to a match “vanilla” and haven’t done so for a looooooong time!

In those dark days, I think one of my favourite days was a winter cup(?) game against Leyton Orient when it got cancelled an hour before the game, so we just stayed in the pub in Walthamstow and got shredded.

Soooo many games where it’s been tempting to stay in the boozer!

Also another particular shitty game at Brentford where it was pissing it down as well, and I left the ground at half time to go to the pub with malf, we had a much better time than the ones who traipsed in an hour later.

Lots did this at the Fulham Monty game as were were getting battered.

Missing part of the game is sometimes the reason to have a drink at half time. Worked wonders under Adkins.

I got caught out on the old voucher scam. Oldest trick in the book that. £10 I’ll never see again.

Kids behind the counter who obviously had nothing to do with it were taking dogs abuse.

Vouchers work perfectly fine when they have the queue open just for those who've bought them. They reintroduced vouchers and then put those shutters down, thus lumping everyone who'd bought them in the usual queue with everyone else and completely defeating the object.

My mate walked to the front and asked where he should redeem his voucher. The bar staff told him to join the back of the queue. He didn't because he just demanded what he'd paid for (rightly so, and luckily I caught him just in time so he could get mine too).

To make things even more absurd, those shutters opened about five minutes before the second half started, as if that was a great time to open that side up and ease the congestion on the bar.

It was chaos. The facilities, management and staff simply aren't fit for purpose and I don't think I'll bother trying to get a drink at HT again. I just can't fathom how it can be so badly run.

When the guy from compass told me "the voucher system won't work", he knew full well that he could do that - by keeping the kiosk shut.

Absolute shithouse move. All you had was people with vouchers pushing down the other queues shouting at those behind the till because rightly, they should be served.

I hope really hope this stunt backfires on him and he gets disciplined. The club ought to pull compass on it as well.

Mistimed my arrival at the ground yesterday and was in danger of seeing kick off. Luckily I got to the bottom of the kop steps and saw that the kiosks were still serving, only 3 people in front of me so not a big wait…. Wrong

15 mins later I ordered a hendos sausage roll and a Beavertown…. Need to change the barrel. Run out to sausage rolls. Only hotdogs and chicken balti pies left… that was pre match. I left it.

I wonder how they got on at half time, presumably they had more stocks. But it was pretty shambolic

Compass are a big enough company that they should have the professionalism to easily sort this, but they are not bothered, they will never be bothered, vote with your feet and don’t use them, it will never change
