Half time refreshments

Rarely use the kiosks for many of the reasons listed.

However, yesterday after little in the way of anything before the match, I decided I could do with a cup of shit coffee.

Took 10 minutes to get served despite only 3 people in front of me and when I went to put milk and sugar in they'd barely filled the cup beyond halfway.

Jokers.

But do they care?
I reckon they do. But all they can do is pass it onto Compass and I don't think they care. Not at ground level. They'll put effort into the corporate areas.

Surely to christ its in their best interests to sell more of everything? Just keep pouring ale. Its really not that difficult at all. Does anyone know how long the contract is?

Noticed 3 men with suits on yesterday making notes of what , or was not happening at the kiosks at the top of the kop. I wasn't buying anything but looked a bit of a shambles going on behind the counter. Bet their note pad just read;" Bugger".
As for smuggling in drink, don't think the stewards are allowed to do a body search , just bag checks. Body search as to be done by the police? . Dont take this as gospel though.
Will things improve after the 3 gentlemen share their findings?. Good luck on that.

While I agree with all your (and everyone else’s) points on this thread, I guess the simple question is:

Given they have a window of around 2-ish hours to cater for 23 or 19 times a year - how much ROI would Compass actually get if they invested in improving staffing/training and the products on offer?

I suppose a further question around the physical setup at the kiosks, can this be improved and who’s responsibility is it to invest and maintain this? Ie speed flow beer pumps etc I would hazard a guess United are responsible for the kiosk and equipment within and Compass just operate from the unit..?
The kiosks and refreshment areas on the kop are poor and I will admit that this hinders the service slightly. There's no doubt about that. So it's all about using what you've got and utilising it in the best way possible. We don't have rapid pour pumps, so pull the handle down and keep it pouring. 1 hold the cup, 1 pass it forward. It's so easy it's hard to believe it's made so difficult. It's been said the beer is crap anyway (the cider isn't bad), but I'm not there for the quality of the pint. Is anyone?

Another way to make queues quicker would be to split them. Half for food, half for beer (or any other split). Again, it's not hard to do. That way you don't have staff walking all way across for a beer for someone down at the bottom. They can stick all the pumps at one end, for example.

I do get your point in relation to ROI as well. But the suggestions I've made above would cost nothing at all to implement (other than maybe shifting pumps but that's just a suggestion).

Organisation is all it needs. It's not as if they don't know match day is coming or how many may or may not turn up either.

Just organise it better and again, utilise what you've got. It's just crap.

Great result yesterday though 😁

I got my refund from Compass for the unused beer voucher from the match vs Derby. They were apologetic (blamed staff resource and the set up in the “old” ground).

I’ve given up getting a drink on the Kop now either before or at HT, which is a shame as the Neck Oil is dead nice and reasonably priced. (£5 at the Lane compared with £6 down Kelham Island).

Was on BLUT yesterday with family. Quick service largely by virtue of it being half full so my half time pint was exactly that. Terrible selection of drinks though - Smiths, Carlsberg and Strongbow all from a tin as they don’t seem to have draft up there (which slows service down dramatically).

Doubt I’ll resort to smuggling cans in but I can see why others do. Obviously some people will says “it’s only 90 minutes just go without” but like with many other leisure activities people like to have a drink, we pay enough for the tickets…the whole thing doesn’t need to be an endurance test.

I saw a queue of about 6 people using their vouchers at half time. Whether more used it after I'd given up and walked off I dont know.

Good to know you got a refund (how long did it take out of interest?)

I asked whether they could serve cans and your post answers my question. If they're struggling for staff or can't pour quick enough, get 1000 cans of lager and cider. Charge £3 a can. Again, utilise what you have got. And when staff levels increase again, lay the cans off. Not difficult at all.

With the upstairs kiosk actually being open for food on Saturday, I foolishly decided to queue up for a half time pint as it didn't look too bad...got back to my seat at the 55th minute to see Jacob Brown smash it into the bottom corner.

I went on the 40th minute. That's 35 minutes (including half time) waiting for a drink. Not really acceptable is it?

Sitting in the posh seats in the South Stand toneet.

What's it like for a pint at half time? Can't be any worse than the Kop surely to god...?

Need to go on 35 mins and watch match on TV in queue to get a pint in good time to finish it before start of 2nd half, it's not so bad Moretti or Neck oil for £5. We have a great lad Jim who sacrifices 10 mins every match to make sure we get a pint he's a good un !

Started queuing about 35 mins on Saturday. Got a beer just before the second half started. We did draw the short straw and seem to pick the wrong queue, though, but expect to wait 15-20 mins, even if you go down 10 minutes before half time.

Looks like you don't get much for the best part of a fiver at Old Trafford:

Why would you walk away from the cashier point with your panini looking like that?

Surely you would complain when you have received it straight away. Also it looks like a baguette not panini.
