hello all,

i havn't posted on here for ages but i still read almost daily just because i get more info on here than any other blades site! (namely the official site)

i've been a season ticket holder for years and go away when work allows - not often.

i'd like to air my thoughts on the season so far....

to me it's been an indifferent start but 6th in the league i'll gladly

the football has been not that good to watch but improving

i think blackwell is a decent manager (better coach)

as in the title of the thread i'm pretty upbeat about are chances this season, but then i always will be coz i'm a blade!

and lastly the howard signing has inspired me to whoop the tetris high score!!

and remember folks...........we're all blades arnt we??? :D

Ah how could I ever forget your brilliant avatar comparing George "Dubyah" to some monkeys? :D

To make it short and simple, we're better equipped than we were this time last season with Captain Bore-for-your-country at the helm.

I was gonna say, hadn't noticed you around for a bit.

I think as Blades, while we can always hope for better, we kinda know this is our natural level :D

All it takes is a few good wins and we can consolidate our position... I mean, who would expect Wednesday to be where they are come the end of the season?

Following the conclusion of the Howard transfer I got to thinking about what I wanted to happen during the end of Bryan Robsons spell as manager.

I thought that we were overloaded with good strikers but failed to have a decent strike partnership amongst them. I thought that we should cull number down to 4 and avoid chopping and changing to allow a partnership to develop.

I thought that our midfield needed freshening up across the board. We needed pace down the flanks and a nice balance of creativity and defensive awareness in the centre. Ultimately I wanted to see more attack minded players in the middle so that we could create more chances.

I thought players like Michael Tonge, Nick Montgomery, Chris Armstrong and Keith Gillespie had reached a point in their careers where they needed to move on.

I wanted to see some of the academy players get a chance in the first team. I don't care what people say about the risks involved, if teams like Middlesbrough, Man City and even Man Utd can give their youngsters a try then we should do it too otherwise the academy is a false economy.

I wanted to see a manager with real passion for the club at the helm, someone the fans can relate to and someone who knows what the fans want.

I wanted to try and play a bit of football. I don't expect us to play like Arsenal and I don't expect the transition to happen over night but I wanted us to look for a short pass and if it's not on, then go long.

Overall Blackwell has done almost everything that I wanted. The football may not have improved on the Warnock era yet but as the squad becomes Blackwell's squad I suspect that we will see a gradual improvement.

So far so good Kevin, thanks for giving me back my hopes that this club can go places on the football field.
