Ah so we don't need a centre back or maybe a midfielder too ............... OK

Hey Metal, just chill. The loan window is later and much more appropriate given the composition of the squad and all those contracts up next summer, by which time we will know which market we are in for next season.

Just take it all in and remember all the lessons next time:cool:

We have a decent player, he no longer wants to play for us, we sell him for a good price, we invest in a centre half who we were in desperate need of, things start to look up, the pessimists are itching to be proved right despite what they say.
Same as it ever was.

It ain't rocket science

What's wrong with liking reading it even if you don't agree with it? Perhaps I am a 'diplomatic creep'. Makes me laugh that so many rise to the bait.
Did you mean 'so WE should be used to it by now'?
It amazes me when some do not reconize a laugh post. Then again I've probably been guilty of that inthe past also.

Whether a pessimist or an optimist, putting it down in writing even under a pseudonym, worse still betting real money on the outcome; these things jeopardise rational thinking and affect the emotions far too much. Never do anything that affects your enjoyment of a game of football. Certainly never ever have a vested interest in your team or a player in your team failing. Here endeth the First Lesson, amen.

Can be very difficult to recognise a joke or sarcasm in text - I've got into bother at work a few times where people have taken what I've said literally.
Anyway, a smiley would probably do the trick :)

Don't you take that tone with me or report to Linz it will be;).
Anyway, have you any idea who the Uber Positives are? Are they a reconised collective or just certain individuals, can you or ANYONE ELSE name some on here?

Well me :( but I try to keep it to myself. Perhaps I should let it out a la Pommpey, as a therapeutic act and then I wouldn't get so disappointed every time I am let down.

It's not a case of 'letting it out' or 'venting'. There is an issue here and the magnitude of our decline and sustained endurance in the third tier of English football eclipses a pleasing four game winning streak by a fucking light year, and then some. I could have laid fat, fresh cash on any such purple patch being followed by the same old, same old chimps gleefully jumping on here to shine a spotlight on pommpey's derogatory comments about the board's ambitions being reflected in the playing staff. Like I say, fill your boots chaps, but you also have a lot of other stuff to account for before I can say I was totally wrong, and then that may involve our dominance of this division until next May and our automatic promotion. It isn't too much to ask either that if that happens, we invest further to establish a foothold in the division which is, in effect, our level and realise someone's one-stated aspiration to get the club into the top flight. We can maybe overlook the timescale bolted onto that aspiration in a trade off for some real commitment this season to make sure it fucking happens, if only for us supporters.

When you get so dissapointed, how long does it take for you to get positive again?
Think carefully, your group listing could depend on it!
I hope you realise you may also have defined a ne Forum phrase.
La Pommpey.
To carry out an act of screaming against the Board of SUFC.
Actually my definition of your phrase is not very good. Perhaps you or others could refine it?

if you begin your post with

Hey, my name is Kev - we will know you are taking the piss ...................

Whilst this if I'm right is the longest outside what is now the Championship.
Think how we felt in '78. When before that we had never finished lower than 12th in what is now the Championship and tgen we fell to the 4th tier before coming back.
Have your vent and despite the fact you will not be thankful (or necessarily should be) for this outlet and others, we had none then.
Perhaps instead of grouping people you could actually name the ones on this Forum you are so frustated with.

Murphy was by far and away our best player when he was here, and the fact that posters are implying his contributions in the past have been a hinderence just because we've sold him is a shame to see. Would you be uttering such words should Murphy still be in a Sheffield United shirt? I suspect not and I would go as far as saying that if someone was to post negatively towards Murphy whilst he was here then said poster would get ridiculed for stupidity on this board. It's time to realise that the Murphy sale and the rise up the league are about as independant from one another as is physically possible, and to suggest otherwise is quite ludicrous in my view.
i don't think anyone is saying that barny. however there is life after murphy. Life after Beattie, TC and Jones was less tangible.

I'll just remind the uber positive types we are in our FIFTH season in league one, once again we have sold our best player

its not the first time youve pointed that out..is it

those of us that have vivid memories of givens miss putting us in a living hell of div 4
know weve been in a worse predicament. and returned to the top flight twice since

the constant doomsday scenario you keep painting is without foundation
of the 92 clubs we finished 1980 to 1985 in 56th 65th 69th and 55th before finishing runners up in the 5th season, thats the 5th season outside the championship we got promoted again , de javu ?
so far we have finished 47th 49th 51st and 49th of the 92 so have been miles better
not a big jump to finish 45th or 46th

we also were watched by average gates of 11764 and 12881 in 2 of those seasons
but 2 years after going up were that unattractive we averaged 10000 in 87 in the championship

as before we shall return

Chimps now are we?

Come on, be fair, it is a long way from Portsmouth to Bramall Lane. I bet he went to Swindon, it's not far.
