Always well received (unlike our little Callum) by sky blues fans.

£40 million to you squires plus my usual arrangement fee of course.

Would seem to be the most reasonable outcome all round.

Not sure other PL clubs will really take a punt on him. They always were fans of him even after he left.

5-8m fee worh the top end making us look decent and the bottom end of that bracket looking in their favour. It will be around 2m a year in wages saved too.

He’s been a nice player to watch.

Accepted he goes this Summer. It's been a pleasure, but think his time as a Blade has come to an end! Better change my signature!

Yes on Premier League budget fees… non of this getting the first offer. They have the cash if they want him £15-20mill, if he moves abroad we will probably be looking at £5mill so make sure Cov pay the Premier League transfer tax.
We're getting nothing like 15-20m

Not saying we will really but the compo deal should add up. As a club there needs to be a longer term strategy review, say if we are thinking Wilder for the next 5 years. Who do we have in the club that is a natural left sided AM now, O’Hare has played there before against Stoke at home. We have a few others One can play in there too.

Hamer probably is worth £5mill on the market and going in the last year of his contract it doesn’t mean we should automatically sell him at the 1st opportunity. When we had cash to splurge in the Premier League and in the Championship it was the likes for £10million for Cannon, if Cannon is worth £10million to us and for Stoke then what is the value to us for Hamer? We need to be a bit more ruthless with our transfer dealings.

In the summer of 2024 apparently he was worth £18miill to Leeds, then in 2025 £13mill, apparently Leeds are interested again if that is the case we could wait to get them into a bidding war with Cov. The only advantage to us is short term cash and wages off the books. Realistically if we got £5million it will be paid over 3 years and we without a loan we aren’t going to be replacing him with anyone half decent.

I can't remember in Wilders tenure him ever actually playing a left winger on the left wing.

Hopefully our owns have some sort of knock to the head and realise they need a plan for post Wilder.

There’s some revisionism on this thread. Some people wouldn’t know a decent player if they played in front of them for a few seasons and won Championship player of the season!
I think what people are worried about with Gus and there's no argument he's a very talented lad ,is his motivation ,his fitness levels ,he did down tools in pre season and before wilder came back .is it time to part company if there's a decent offer on the table who knows .

He's a very good player, but it's shown in fits and starts.

Also him starting generally is to the detriment of team shape and I don't think it's ever really worked him out on the left, which generally hangs Burrows (who's defensively naive as it is) out to dry.

I wouldn't be shocked if he stays and goes on a free tbh.

And that would potentially hurt us more than selling him.
Hopefully not- he stays we have more chance of being promoted 26/27 season - If the fee is 10 million sell if it's nearer 5 surely ambition dictates keep.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I dont mind him going but hes worth more to us on the pitch than 5m in the bank is. Now if its 10m that's a different story and we sell.

I think next season realistically is best chance of promotion before the finances really hit. So we either need Gus in the side or a fee big enough to sign another similar type of player. We have virtually no flair players as it is so we cant be giving him away for peanuts if we harbour any hope of going up

I agree with this entirely. I've started to feel really sorry for Burrows. He's left so exposed when Gus is playing on the left. Burrows is a forward thinking fullback, but he gets absolutely no protection or cover down the left and is often left outnumbered as Hamer fails to track back or wanders off inside.
I'd like to see a proper left sided midfielder in the starting lineup next season to balance the side. I'd be more than happy for Hamer to play as a 10 off of Bamford, but he needs freeing from any defensive responsibilities. I even think O'Hare would be a better option on the left because he's a grafter with more of an engine to get up and down the flank.

Yeah totally agreed there, Cannon has been played there god knows how many times then people were slating Cannon off.

Wilder if 59 this year so we either tie him down/think this is long term option (5 years) with plan b manager after that or we have a plan for a new manager coming in. Without going too McBladey about it when Warnock was in charge there wasn’t a post plan B option. He got us up eventually then it was the gradual decline and going through managers for fun. We do have some developing coaches that could be turned into options similar to how Hecky was brought into the 1st team

I'll be sad to see Gus leave (assuming he is off this summer). On his day he is a wonderful footballer, capable of little bits of magic and certainly our most competent scorer from outside the box.

I wouldn't want him to be "forced" to stay becuase that runs the risk of him sulking and downing tools next season waiting for a free the following summer. We won't get anywhere near what we might have got last summer for him, but I think it was the right call then as we reasonably had expectations of challenging at the top after coming so close at Wembley.

I think given the need to balance the books there might be a few big name outgoings this summer. If we get £8m or so for Hamer, I reckon we'll sell. I hope it's NOT Coventry, cos their fans are insufferable twats who will come crawling all over here gloating if he does go there.
