And so it begins.
I don't mind the rumours so much.
But I'm not looking forward to a summer of those weird, insufferable twats.
We're getting nothing like 15-20mYes on Premier League budget fees… non of this getting the first offer. They have the cash if they want him £15-20mill, if he moves abroad we will probably be looking at £5mill so make sure Cov pay the Premier League transfer tax.
Not saying we will really but the compo deal should add up. As a club there needs to be a longer term strategy review, say if we are thinking Wilder for the next 5 years. Who do we have in the club that is a natural left sided AM now, O’Hare has played there before against Stoke at home. We have a few others One can play in there too. We're getting nothing like 15-20m
I can't remember in Wilders tenure him ever actually playing a left winger on the left wing. Not saying we will really but the compo deal should add up. Hamer probably is worth £5mill on the market and going in the last year of his contract it doesn’t mean we should automatically sell him at the 1st opportunity. When we had cash to splurge in the Premier League and in the Championship it was the likes for £10million for Cannon, if Cannon is worth £10million to us and for Stoke then what is the value to us for Hamer? We need to be a bit more ruthless with our transfer dealings.
In the summer of 2024 apparently he was worth £18miill to Leeds, then in 2025 £13mill, apparently Leeds are interested again if that is the case we could wait to get them into a bidding war with Cov. The only advantage to us is short term cash and wages off the books. Realistically if we got £5million it will be paid over 3 years and we without a loan we aren’t going to be replacing him with anyone half decent.
We should be lobbing all the received fee on Sorba Thomas
I think what people are worried about with Gus and there's no argument he's a very talented lad ,is his motivation ,his fitness levels ,he did down tools in pre season and before wilder came back .is it time to part company if there's a decent offer on the table who knows .There’s some revisionism on this thread. Some people wouldn’t know a decent player if they played in front of them for a few seasons and won Championship player of the season!
He's a very good player, but it's shown in fits and starts.I think what people are worried about with Gus and there's no argument he's a very talented lad ,is his motivation ,his fitness levels ,he did down tools in pre season and before wilder came back .is it time to part company if there's a decent offer on the table who knows .
Hopefully not- he stays we have more chance of being promoted 26/27 season - If the fee is 10 million sell if it's nearer 5 surely ambition dictates keep.I wouldn't be shocked if he stays and goes on a free tbh.
And that would potentially hurt us more than selling him.
Exactly what I'm thinking. I dont mind him going but hes worth more to us on the pitch than 5m in the bank is. Now if its 10m that's a different story and we sell.Hopefully not- he stays we have more chance of being promoted 26/27 season - If the fee is 10 million sell if it's nearer 5 surely ambition dictates keep.
I agree with this entirely. I've started to feel really sorry for Burrows. He's left so exposed when Gus is playing on the left. Burrows is a forward thinking fullback, but he gets absolutely no protection or cover down the left and is often left outnumbered as Hamer fails to track back or wanders off inside. He's a very good player, but it's shown in fits and starts.
Also him starting generally is to the detriment of team shape and I don't think it's ever really worked him out on the left, which generally hangs Burrows (who's defensively naive as it is) out to dry.
Yeah totally agreed there, Cannon has been played there god knows how many times then people were slating Cannon off.I can't remember in Wilders tenure him ever actually playing a left winger on the left wing.
Hopefully our owns have some sort of knock to the head and realise they need a plan for post Wilder.
Give me a half fit Hamer over a fully fit clogger every day of the week.I think what people are worried about with Gus and there's no argument he's a very talented lad ,is his motivation ,his fitness levels ,he did down tools in pre season and before wilder came back .is it time to part company if there's a decent offer on the table who knows .
