For me he falls between the cracks.

Clubs that can afford him won’t want him and those that do want him won’t be able to afford him..

I have a feeling he may still be here next season and not be best pleased about it

Doesn't strike me as the type to down tools. If he is here next season then he has another chance to try and help us gain promotion. If we do then he's back in The Prem where I'm sure he wants to play. If we don't then he'll only have a year left on his contract so his transfer value will obvs be diminished and he will probably have more suitors at the lower price so could move then.

Our culture brings out the best in good and average players, it also allows brilliant ones to shine. Old Yorkshire men shouting on the sideline didn't hold Brooks, MGW, McAtee Henderson, Ndiaye and Gus back. Do we demand a work ethics and a graft like some other clubs might not need as much? Yeah. But we've had some elite players over this past decade while our neighbours with their young, fresh look, "new idea" managers have had zero. Wilder can man manage the Anels just as much as he can the Jake Wrights.
The vast majority of those players no longer here.If he's such a "man manager",how come he's not managed to cultivate their desire to stay loyal to 'our culture.
Please don't tell me they all left for more money🙏

They did all leave for more money, as well as taking what they would regard as a step up. Three of them were never actually our players, just passing through on their development path.

Because they're all in the Premier league.
We had a chance of keeping every single one if we'd gone/stayed up, but you obviously know that.

It feels like too much quality passes through our club🤔
Will we ever be more than a stepping stone I wonder.🙏

Only after major major investment or a few more yo yo years.
It's a shame that our fan base think we should be there instantly.
I think if you ask the majority of us who only missed a few division 4 games if we would take where we are right now as bloody decent, disappointing, but decent, then yes.
We are comaplaining about getting 92 points in the championship like it is not acceptable.

So if he goes do we think it’s next week then in the mini window

Those downplaying Hamer are kidding themselves, assuming softening blow of him leaving in there own minds.

Of course he’s not perfect, but would start, without question, at every club in the Championship. We will not recruit a player as good as Hamer to fill the gap.

It’s possible we could rebalance / reshape the side, but a LFL replacement? Forget it.
Exactly. There's some right revisionist bollocks already.

If he does go, we need someone who is willing to show up, show for the ball and want to dictate how we play. Because when he went off at Wembley it was abundantly clear that we didn't have that. Souza's presence, Burrows' crossing, Kieffer's headers, O'Hare's pressing all great qualities but not one of them dictating play.

I've watched much more entertaining football finishing lower.

I agree,we're nowhere near ready for the prem, doubt the three promoted sides are either.

Points are only one side of the conversation.Does that highlight our superiority,or poorer quality of the rest.🤔

I go to be entertained, not to puff my chest out.I'm no tub thumper.

Iv'e said previously,no promotion this season is a blessing in disguise.

We had talent beyond Hamer this season too, very poorly utilised to my mind.

I'll be back when more consisent entertainment returns.

All those points ultimately counted for diddly🙏

Sadly i think Hamer will be gone and I'm really not sure how we replace him. Our creativity & technical ability in the team has been on a gradual downward spiral for a a couple of seasons. We have lost multiple technical players and Hamer is the only one of quality left in my opinion.

We've lost Didzy, Ndiaye, MGW, McAtee, Doyle, Berge, Rak-Saki, Archer. I think some of the youngsters we have now are good, and Campbell and O'hare are of a decent quality for this level but I do think generally the quality has regressed. Understandable in some respects but to me we could've recruited more of these types of players (instead of Moore, Shackleton etc), played better football as a result and therefore maybe been promoted.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I thought Hamer might have gone last season. He's been great this season, I wonder what we would have finished on if he wasn't in the squad.

I think he will move on, and good luck to him. He is too good form championship but I think maybe not good enough for an established Premier league side... I do get the feeling he would be happy taking a big PL wage and not playing a lot of football...

We need to get this sorted quickly either way because either get him gone (in my mind with my thanks and best wishes) and we use the cash, or we keep him, build the squad for next season around him, in his best position.

He needs to get his calves sorted. All season they go at about 60 minutes.

He could easily regularly start games for the promoted clubs and maybe one or two other strugglers, but he may also get interest from higher up the league. If you look at, for example, Forest, Newcastle, Palace, the demands of European football require and afford greater squad depth than they currently have. There's arguably a place there on the 60-90+10mins shift, rather than 0-60mins in the relegation battle.

Love Hamer, not just as a player but a personality, plays with a smile but can dish it out (too often!)

But, how would we replace MGW?
Ndaiye?
Mcatee?

A new hero will step up if he goes

Personally don’t think he has the athleticism for Prem, and he isn’t going to improve at 27yr old

Stuck around and become a ledge Gus

Unless we have a replacement, keep him, thats what contracts are for... its not as if we are skint... we spent £10mill+ on Tom Cannon!!
If money does need bringing in then Anel and souza are easier to replace.

Saying that, if Anel was sold his lordship would no doubt bring in the right footed version of Jack Robinson

Does anyone know if the transfer release fee which was valid until a certain date last summer, kick in again this summer if we didn't go up?
