Stayed in the pub a bit too long and missed the start trying to get across Sheffield to the Lane. Some in the away end were very little coming over from Preston.

Seems a bit daft scheduling a moving-in weekend at Hallam at the same time as a game with 20,000+ people in attendance in the area.

Don’t know. As a person who voted for Brexit, a state of apathy has now come over me due to Mavis May and her ineptitude. I know I will get slated but o’ for a Donald Trump in this country. Booming economy, jobs being created and security his number one mission.

Watch the 'Likes' come flooding in (when Walthy logs back on).

Classic Sheffield.

“Er, you know we’ve spent the last ten years making the city centre as difficult to get in and out to for motorists?”
“Yeah...”
“And how we’ve got to the point where students are our main industry?”
“Yeah...”
“So when they all move into Sheffield City Campus- sorry- Centre, how will the traffic cope?”
“Oh it will be fine! Its not like they’ll be a match at Bramall Lane, or a string of Arctic Monkeys homecoming gigs, or a 10k run is it?”
But this council know that they will never be voted out and can do whatever they want. Keep voting for the thick bastards and sheffield will always have problems. Glad i moved to derbyshire.

Just out of interest, I wonder how hard it would have been for someone to notify the aforementioned students that Sheffield United would be at home at 3pm yesterday, and to try and avoid yesterday afternoon as a moving in day.

As it happened everything worked out perfectly for me, bus from Ecco to town, safely ensconced in the Rutland for 1,and down at the Lane for 3

that’s Sheffields biggest problem
we always vote for party x therefore party y never give us any money ( cos we always vote x) and party x gives us no money ( cos we akways vote for them anyway)
people should vote party y for shits and giggles it might wake party x up
( or party z might rock up of course)

I got parked up easily just off Cemetery road. Got chatting to a nice chap from North Yorks on my way down and still made it into the Cremorne for 14:30
Was it me? No, couldn't have been, didn't get into the ground till after kick off.

Bert from Bramall Lane to his on the (far) edge of Lincoln residence after the final whistle : 1 hour 3 minutes.
In the car at 5.05 home by 6.15, broke the speed limit most of the way. Hope there weren't any speed cameras on the A1. Out to celebrate amongst Leeds fans by 7. Happy days.

I'd like a Trump just for the entertainment value. Boris has become very boring since he's tried to be a serious politician.

That used to be the case with some subjects. The current Tory government thought it wasn’t a good idea though.

(I feel like this should be off topic discussion, though I know it’s all been said before on there)

And there's me thinking it was Blair's (insane) idea to get 50% of school leavers into 'uni'.

The comparison between the German Apprenticships and those offered here are very different as are the schools offering them, plus the set up for post-16 is different, as highlighted by Alison Wolfe in her report covering Vocational Qualifications.
The removal of the Vocational Quals from school League Tables has also brought about the reduction in apprenticeships at Levels One and Two. There are very few L1 available at all.
The idea of university education being accessible for more people seemed like a good idea but it has brought about a situation where more graduates are doing jobs that would have traditionally gone to other people. Firms dealing in apprenticeships were making this point around three or four years ago at what used to be the Foundation Learning Tier/Raising Participation network meetings involving educators and training providers in South Yorkshire.

Yes, I was going to post something about the German apprenticeships. My experience of them has been they are more akin to a YTS go-fetch than anything worthwhile. I admit I've only experienced them in an office environment and they may be better in tradesman type jobs. I don't know how the current UK apprenticeships work, but the German model should not be the one to follow.

i knew there was going to be traffic problems so i left the car at home and got the hoop and stick out.
bit hairy on the moterway from doncaster, but once on the parkway it was plain sailing straight through lines of cars all the way to the lane.
parked my hoop on harwood st and after a few bevies in fanny's went to the game.
came out after and some thieving student or spice head had pinched my hoop :(
i'm still in sheffield don't know how i'm gonna get home:(

One of the best old jokes ever.

Supposed to be busy again today (and the matrix signs have warnings about it) but we’ve just done Meadowhall to Ecclesall, including Eccesall Road, and it’s quieter than a normal Sunday. Maybe yesterday, the signs and the 10K this morning put people off.

Except that it has been made that way deliberately. It is therefore a big well done for Sheffield Council (Councils, over the years.)
Be interested to hear their thoughts on yesterday ,should the student have brought all their duvets and furniture and teddies by Train or pushbike ?
