I wouldn’t hate it if Greece won, but a fair number of England lads are also going through adversity (Henderson comes to mind immensely), and I always want England to win personally.

Watched it with a mate in the pub tonight, both of us agreed that Greece wanted it more.

Saw Henderson on the sidelines during the minutes silence (knowing that he was the only player in the England squad who actually played alongside GB) and he looked like he was at a loss for words.

Loved the Greek tributes to GB, me and my friend both said that Bellinghams goal was an undeserved equaliser (because England had been second best in every aspect all game) and we weren't surprised when Greece went on to win it.

They just wanted it more, and were deserved winners.

Watched the game and was a beautiful fitting tribute for them to win which made the respect paid to George even more emotional imho. I had tears in my eyes at some of the tribute footage and the Greece celebrations.

I don’t care for this England team, full of really unlikeable players. Pickford, Trent, Rice, Palmer, Gordon, Jones and even Bellingham now thinks he’s a big shot. There’s a real sense of entitlement pouring from them in my opinion, which is confusing as they’ve done absolutely nothing, regardless of how many ‘wonderful nights they’ve given the country’ … give me a break.

Greece, on the other hand, produced the greatest tribute I’ve ever seen a team do for a player. They were clearly deeply hurt by the loss of Baldock and dedicated every pass, tackle and goal towards him. Remember Baldock was English, and only started to represent Greece later in his career, and they showed tonight what a great man he was, to have such an impact on a team in such a short space of time.

I’ve got to a point where I don’t just blindly want England to do well, regardless of who plays, I need to actually like the players in the shirt, and when I see them rolling round like babies every time they’re touched because it works in the prem, I just cringe.

For what's it worth, the reason I don't support England is because the majority of the England players have wronged SUFC at various points over the last few seasons (cheating, diving, etc.). I couldn't bring myself to suddenly start cheering them on just because they've got an England badge on their t-shirt.

Big games. In iconic stadiums. The San Siro. The Maracana. The Diego Armando Maradona. Soldier Field. The old Sydney Football Stadium. Experiencing proper football culture. The Maksimir. Having a look inside the Lion's Mouth, and squeezing it's balls. The Luzhniki.

Visiting places way off the tourist routes. Kazakhstan. Transnistria. Dnipro. Mariupol. And meeting football fans from different cultures and countries.

I think it's OK to post that argument on a football fans forum.

Supporting England is just fucking brilliant. Must dash. Flight to Helsinki this afts.

But I am not good with choice, with decisions, I could never have a bucket list for eg. So, I am great with sports fixtures, because "they" tell me where to travel. For me, sports fixtures give me the discipline, the structure, the incentive my personality type needs. It's a personal thing, but it's super for my Mental Health.

Completely get that. I love travelling also, but sometimes feel overwhelmed by what to do when I get there, so quite often end up doing, well, not all that much at all!

My "met on an England trip" partner has a phrase that helps me with that situation...

"Everyone has got to be Somewhere"

For me, that's an energising mantra. It doesn't always matter what you are DOING. If you were at home, you'd be worried less about DOING. So, don't worry about DOING. Just BE.

I'm a very low maintenance traveller. Don't need much to enjoy it. There'll always be a game. There'll always be a Brewery. There'll always be people walking about. There'll always be someone to ask - what's that you're drinking there mate. There'll always be a hill, or a park, or a river, or a beach.

If all else fails on an England football trip there's always the age old - hello pal, fancy a fight

In the Old Days, the day after the game, we'd have to visit the local A&E, the local Magistrates Court, and the local police headquarters to get everyone rounded up for the flight home.

England players are by and large over-rated, by themselves and the media.
Listening to Stones’s post match interview he referenced how bad the result was for him personally at least twice, which is typical of the overall attitude, I feel.
How many of our so-called world class players,Bellingham and Kane apart, would get into a top European side, I wonder,and how many would dare to give up their comfortable existence in the Prem, to challenge themselves, in a top European side.
In terms of the media, for years now, every time a tournament comes round, they bang on about how good we are, and how we have some God given right to get to the semi’s or better.And of course when it ends in tears, it’s always the managers fault, never the players, who frankly and quite obviously just aren’t as good as the likes of Spain or France etc.
The sooner the media and our players become a bit more self aware, and less self important, the better.Adopting this attitude might just lead to more gutsy performances, just like the Greek side did last night.

Their captain has been interviewed and he said they didn't want to play and that the game shouldnt have been played.

More distressingly from Georges familys point of view he also criticised sections of the Greek media for 'telling jokes and making insinuations ' he also said that 'some are trying to profit from such a tragedy by saying nasty things about George and his family. '

I'm a great romantic when it comes to football. Because of this more often than not I'll cheer for the underdog.

Following the saddest news this week I thought that a team with 11 George Baldocks (based on attitude, selflessness, committment, will to win) would win more matches than they lose.

Last night 11 George Baldocks beat a team way above them in the world standings.

I cheered that winning goal as if George was on the pitch himself.
