As mentioned some weeks previously I won 2 tickets to BDTBL in a charity auction. We opted to come over this weekend and watch Blades V Swindon. I was joined by my mate and brother, and our respective wives. We live just north of Stamford, so I haven’t seen the Blades live for about 7 years.

We decided to stay at the Copthorne and have a meal at a nice restaurant owned by a friend over Beauchief way. Hotel was very nice although we did have an issue with lunch as my mate suffers from gluten intolerance. We sat in the Westfield stand as recommended by some of you. We had a great view. My friend who is Scottish and supports Glasgow Rangers was very impressed with the hotel and football stadium. I did get pulled by a steward far taking pictures and videos during the match, apparently it’s not allowed. That said the game was brilliant. At the end of the match we took some photos and went back to the hotel. I was delighted to find out that Scunny and Wednesday had lost.

Got changed and got in the lift to go and get our taxi. Once in the lift a voice asked us if we were going partying tonight. I replied “my Partying days are over” and looked up to see a beaming Kevin McCabe. “All right Boss” I said, “didn’t realise it was you” and shook his hand.

“Great game today” I said

He replied “Yes after first 5 mins”

As we were leaving the lift I said “Whatever some people say, I think you are doing a great job”

“I try my best” he replied.

Great guy, great team, great weekend.

Thank You Sheffield United.

Onwards upwards!

Unless you were fully armed with a steadicam and sound engineer then you did well not to tell them where to get off...

Oh, and don't be giving Old Kev a big head whilst we're still in the third division. :)

That comment needs all the support it can muster......do not fuel McCabe's delusion that apart from securing the services of Wilder and Knill he is somehow on top of his game as a chairman. Let's see what January brings in terms of support for the manager.

Glad you enjoyed it mick. ... what would be the ultimate compliment though would be if you made it back for a couple more games .

Good times don't come around that often for us mate ..... do yourself a favour and try to experience as much of it as you can .

Stamford is posh - you could afford to buy United off McCabe ;)

Got relatives in Ketton - so Feb 11th is a definite away day for us, put it in your diary - Peterboro away..............you can see us win again.:)

UTB

Actually FB I'm in between Stamford and Grantham, so not so posh. Place called Colsterworth.
In any case as a lad off Park Hill, everywhere is posh to me :)

Just across the road. Don't recognise the names, but maybe I'm a bit older. I went to St Vincent's then St Paul's on Granville Rd. My sister went to Park Hill School.

Went to school with the guy who's dad used to run the pub on park hill , you don't know him do you Mick .
Also another mates mother used to run a shop across from park hill , they used to live on Granville road .
you didn't know the guy called squeak did you , big fucking skinhead .

The were 4 pubs actually on Park Hill, Dublin, and many others around the area. Also lots of Shops. Squeak I'm not sure about. Was he a skin in the 60's or 70's?
I got married and moved off the flats in 1974.Although I still went to the boozers on there.
BTW I'm coming over to Dublin on a jolly in January with a few mates. None are Blades, we are all into World of Tanks. But like a drink or 5.

Would that be towards Hyde Park Flats?
Not far away Mick but nearer bard street flats, the other side of Bernard road going towards Sky Edge.

I was only 9 when we moved to Gleadless but I had some good times as a kid. I could hear the Lane crowd and supported United with a passion even though my Dad hadn't started taking me regularly then.

Did you forget the bit were KMC cackled in an evil manner and invited you back to the platinum suite for a bout of satanic partying and child sacrifice?

We used to call Bard St Flats "Bardyland" :)

I remember Crown Place well. Was a small area of flats I think. I had a friend on there in the 60's called Angela. :)
My grandparents lived on there for years, also my auntie with my cousin's,my dad had a scrap yard just at the side of the old Harrow on Bard street.
