Think your being a bit harsh on Clarke Itsinyerblood, had a problem and now over it he hopefully will kick on he's a good finisher at this level.
I think he will come good,I trust Wilder to sort it anyway

Wilder is not too happy at dropping two points at the weekend in a game we dominated as we did the two previous games in which we really struggled to beat teams with only nine men. After a few big wins recently (although two of those were against league two outfits) you can sense a feeling that the players might just be thinking they only need to turn up, Wilder is making sure they know the consequences of taking their foot of the gas .............. bizarre that some posters on this thread can't see this. I say well done Chris they needed fucking after the last three games which all should have been won by at least three clear goals.

The question was - " Are you happy with Sharp and Done" up front?

You seem inclined to consider your questions as creations designed to make the person you write to answer, no room for anything else, just a demand by yourself - you must answer! Well sometimes a question, in this case yours, doesn't address the more important issues, so getting tangled up in your own peculiarly tangled approach is something I'd prefer to avoid, it's not healthy or conducive to rational thought. I'll leave you to ask the "probing(?)" questions. I'll leave you to ponder why frogs leap, or which partnership might best be equipped to put the foe to the sword, or, and this, surely, is what summarises your own solitary approach in imagining that you have a weighty contribution that marks you out as a poster of worth, that your opinion matters, to me or anyone else. I'm requesting that you stop contacting me, otherwise I'll be forced to put you on ignore, and in my case that usually includes no contact at all for at least 18 months minimum. It's the least you deserve, working that hard at being so puerile must be energy sapping, it's certainly a waste of my time. Now go away and irritate someone else, you're good at that.

Yeah but can he recite poems?

What a load of old bull. Queenie's poem in Blackadder gets me more fired up...

When the night is dark,
And the dogs go 'bark',
When the clouds are black,
And the ducks go 'quack',
When the sky is blue,
And the cows go 'moo',
Think of lovely Queenie:
She'll be thinking of you.

Grrrrrr let me at em!

OK good and please reciprocate.

what makes Wilder the real deal
Wilder said: “I don’t care what the player think. I’m driving this club forward, that’s what I want to do. We expect to keep the hammer down and do better. The players should be disappointed.” . It’s that last little bit which separates teams who do well and teams who achieve things. And we have to learn that lesson pretty quickly.” “I’ve let my players off in the past few weeks, we get the stats and all of that because we are a go-ahead club,” Wilder added. “But the amount of chances we’ve had in the past few weeks, to really put games away, has been frightening. For us not to take that game away from one to two to three to four was disappointing. And that’s no disrespect to the opposition at all.”

Agreed. He's not the quickest but he more than makes up for it with his positional sense, and I think that he's also the best organiser.

Yeah no coincidence we concede late on when Wright wasn't there to organise the defence.

Others like Basham need to step up in these sorts of situations.

Like that the manager has set high standards.

I think 99% of your posts on this thread are 100% right Woody. I totally agree with your sentiments. However,I really think Sharp and Done are better than Sharp and Clarke. I'd start Done against Walsall, with Lavery and Chapman warming up from the get go to make it obvious things need to improve pronto.

So pleased that someone is capable of reading a thread in it's context.

I must say I am extremely disappointed with Done who has had a long run and to me fails to fit into any pattern or partnership with team mates. He works hard of that there is no doubt but his positional play and team work is sadly lacking IMO, he almost plays as a lone ranger. He seems to have lost that goal touch which seemed magical ( rabbits out of hats!) at times when he first joined us

I am confident there is plenty to come from both Clarke and Lavery.

I'm a big Sharp fan and always have been but as ever he is hard to fit into the team because he has little pace and is limited in the air and therefore not a typical target man. On the face of it Clarke has the attributes to combine well with him but they don't seem to communicate with each other, nor do Sharp and Done come to that. I think Sharp has the willingness to play in a partnership but he does not seem to have formed many in his career -Keogh at Scunny comes to mind but nobody else really and certainly the Beattie/ Sharp duo did not work well. All that season under Clough when we played 4-5-1 with Baxter up front on his own I yearned for Sharp who could have come short to meet the ball to feet and layed it off to the onrushing midfield all day long and you bet he would have been in the penalty to get on the end of returns. I think he is a difficult player to fit into the team also but he will always score goals. I think he is very much a team man but he is a selfish striker too. Given the right pairing Sharp has the skills and awareness to be exceptional but I don't think he fancies Clark that much to be honest.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Clarke and Lavery become the main men by the end of the season.

Sharp 21 games with 12 goals and 3 assists.
Done 21 games with 2 goals and 3 assists.
Clarke 12 games with 3 goals and 0 assists.

Woody I also agree with most of what you say but having watched Clark on Saturday I thought he was poor and looked disinterested. He rarely got in good positions and couldn’t be bothered to close down the opposition like Billy. Unfortunately when Lavery came on he wasn’t much better and indeed when Billy did his circles in the box in the second half my mate was screaming for Lavery to help him but he just watched from a distance. Agree that Done is not the final answer and whilst he ran his socks off against the Shrews there’s not enough end product but he contributes more than some.

I suspect Wilder has sussed all this and is concerned that no two of his strikers seem to jel and they are often disconnected from our otherwise excellent midfield. A midfield who know how to get to the edge of the box and down the flanks but then run out of ideas and slow it down and then struggle with a shot or a final incisive pass. Our forwards don’t show enough movement or willingness to make well timed darting runs which then doesn’t help our midfield.

I suspect Wilder knows the difference between a top two finish or a play off place depends on if he can find a solution to all this and having tried most combinations with the existing players he must be wondering if he needs someone from elsewhere (but not Ched please - a has been who we know is no use at championship level and is not exactly a star for Chessy)

Lets not forget that although we've scored alot of goals against lower teams we are yet to do this from open play against the better teams and its the latter which will probably determine where we finish in this league.

Couldn't agree more.

Couldn't agree with Wilder more !!

I have some regret that Sitwell and Itsinyerblood have not furthered their debating points though. That's how we all learn from each other. I wish they would re-read the whole thread but just your post will do bladetoolong, thanks.
