Great full back and winger pairings

Wilder is right behind them he's not going over the top with them( fans can do that ) he wants them to keep there heads down and continue to keep developing.
If we are to acheav anything this season! They will play a big part.!

I’d likely agree but I think their contract situation is playing a part in his reluctance to praise them publicly.

Maybe there is nothing in it but his response to a direct question about them was just odd.

Agree with all of that, they’re working really well together. When Seriki gets to the byline, I’d like to see him look up and vary his crossing a bit. There was one occasion yesterday where he hit his cross with pace to the near post and the ball was blocked. A chip across to Cannon in the middle of the goal, who had a bit of space (from memory) might have been more effective.
Agreed with all of this. Brooks and Seriki are very exciting players but you can see they’re still learning. Christ, Seriki still seems to be learning how to take throw-ins. I hope we get to see them play for us for a while longer, not just for our sakes but for the sake of their development too. Big PL move and they’ll be torn to shreds by the fans because they’re just not quite ready IMO.

David Barnes to Jock Bryson.
Barnesy could ping that ball perfectly parallel with the touch line.

Have we had any midfielders score more in a season since Lee Williamson (13 or 14)?

I don't think so, but someone will correct me, if wrong.
Williamson scored 13 in 2011/12. Very few United players, midfielders or not, have scored that many league goals in a season.

2015/16: Billy Sharp 21
2016/17: Billy Sharp 30 (honourable nod to Kieran Freeman with 10 from RWB)
2017/18: Leon Clarke 19, Billy Sharp 13
2018/19: Billy Sharp 23, David McGoldrick 15
2021/22: Billy Sharp 14
2022/23: Iliman Ndiaye 14, Oli McBurnie 13

They keep getting better under his leadership. If they decide not to sign a new contract it’ll be because of money and the belief they can move up a level. It won’t be because Wilder refuses to big them up in the media.

And whilst it’ll be shit if they leave, it’s sales such as these that’ll keep our head above water. Sad but true.

Lee Williamson and Matty Lawton were a reyt pairing. Best pairing I've seen in my time but Brooks and Seriki are almost there- I just want a bit more from them which they are capable of.

Yet Wilder was reluctant to praise either of them post match and opted to praise Gus. ☹️ 🤷‍♂️
From what I saw Seriki lost Cooper for their equaliser. He's never going to out jump him of course, but he's probably assigned to block his run. (Baldock was world class at blocking runs :-))

And Brooks doing somersaults when he scores (though not yesterday) - I remember a long time ago Alex Ferguson berating one of the Man Utd players for this.

On the (off the ball) plus side for Brooks the amount of running around he did, even when he could at times barely walk, yesterday was remarkable. With about 5 minutes to go, after pressing one or two or three of their players, he just had to sit down and watch their attack develop: this is not a criticism he'd run himself to a standstill and couldn't give any more. If he keeps putting that amount of effort in that will improve him as a player.

As for Gustavo, at one point he made a deep recovery run to make a tackle and get the ball out for a throw in and then celebrated like he'd scored the winner.

And, from memory, it was Hamer who won the ball and started the move that led to Brooks's goal.

And then there's genereal man management. Hamer probably benefits from knowing his efforts are appreciated after a spell out of the team. It also sends a message to other players not in the team. And players in the team.

Brooks and Seriki were fantastic yesterday, but there's more to defending than attacking.

They both need another year of playing consistently to get to a level where they might get a move up the ladder and play consistently. They leave now I think it will be to their detriment, as they won’t be a first choice, unless they go abroad.
They are our most saleable assets at the moment along with Peck

Kyle Naughton and Greg Halford were very enjoyable to watch, constantly switching between themselves.

I saw us win 5-2 away at Charlton that season, seemed like all the other players were looking at KN to lead the play, never seen such a young player given so much deference. Thought that day he'd go on to be a perennial top-flight player.

No sure how Seriki manages to run with his shorts round the bottom of his arse rather than his waist.

no pairing ive seen in 60 years has the class of len badger and alan woodward down united's right flank and great club men as well

Apart from the most obvious one , Len Badger was the best defender I ever saw in a Blades shirt and most certainly the best slide tackler from any team .

One of my outstanding memories of him was a performance at Old Trafford which I think was in the late ‘60s (Silent will provide the details) , when a young Steve Faulkner had been given the centre half role due to injuries and was having an absolute nightmare .

Len recognised this and after about 20 minutes came over, pushed him out wide and took over his role in which he went on to have an absolute blinder even though as far as I know , he had never played in that position before .

Absolute Blades Legend .

That was Faulkner's debut at Old Trafford on Easter Monday 1973. Bobby Charlton's last home game for Man U. Faulkner's dreadful backpass allowed Brian Kidd to score to give Man U an early lead. Yes Badger played well and made last ditch clearances.
