Greasy Grealish.....

I must have been 36 or 37 when Tesco Bishopsgate (Liverpool Street Station, London) formed a football team, with our first fixture against Tesco Mile End. Our coach, an ex-pro called Sala from one of the Asian Leagues (can't remember which) put me at right-back where I was up against a teenager half my age on the left wing. This kid was tricky - fast, skillful, and slippery - and yet not once did he get past me. Not once did I win the ball either. I clattered the poor lad time after time, not because I was playing dirty, but because he was just too quick for me. Every time he'd slip the ball past me, a split second later my leg would go out, and another split second on he'd be in a heap on the floor. The amazing thing was that not once did the ref blow for a foul, leaving me to think that we must have bribed him with "unknown" shrinkage from the Wines & Spirits section. Sala hooked me at half-time.
I met a very good mate under similar circumstances, although the first couple of times he went past me. Third time I cleaned him out. He still occasionally calls me a thug.

most centre halfs cant tackle these days either. Always seems to be about intercepting. May be wrong but whenever I see tackling stats in a game it seems to be a centre mid with the highest & it's usually only 5 or 6.

Tackling is a dying art.
Tackling isn't a dying art.

The problem is that most tackles these days are a foul, hence why centre halves are pointless. They're just another position filled by someone who can pass a ball now.

I despise Grealish for his play-acting and whinging. That doesn’t prevent me saying that he is a very, very good footballer. Consummate on the ball; quick mind; quick feet; vision.

He’s a real handful and I’ll be delighted if he’s absent from the game.

I enjoyed the “greasy hair and a tiny dick” chant at BDTBL someone struck up. Infantile I know, but cracked me up.

It was 'tiny knob' if I'm being pedantic :D

Completely infantile. I hope it lives on tonight.

Indeed - with Villa tomorrow, it just reminds me that Enda probably wasn't listening to that bit of the coaching, when last season he let Snodgrass come inside on his left foot !

Noticeable how improved he has been in that aspect this season too. We have tightened up across our whole back line of course but that inner left channel between Enda and JOC became a real soft spot toward the end of last season. Solid as fuck know.

I agree entirely about his ability and in fairness , the last time I saw him play on tv he withstood some very harsh treatment from the opposition and took it pretty well .

Agreed - Enda has stepped up his game this season.

For me I saw a few of them last season in awe of other teams/players - Enda being one of them. He now knows he is as good if not better and his performances show that. Would like to think it's CW's man management that has also contributed to Enda's improvement.

In the remaining games if we can get Flecks levels up a bit and maintain fitness of our A team, there is zero reason to think that top 2 isn't there for the taking.

It's a big game tonight - and not just 3 points - it's about believing we ARE good enough to finish top 2. I reckon it's pivotal to put past "bridesmaid" disappointments behind us and just keep going.
