Still top of the league, and probably a fair result today. We had more of the ball (60%) and more shots (13 to 8) but they probably had better chances. Eustace has certainly got them very well organised. We played some really nice football through the thirds, but were a bit ineffective with the final ball. Their goal looked offside to me - anybody seen a detailed replay yet? When we're leading towards the end of a game I would always leave McB on, for defensive corners, but I suppose if Billy had stuck his chance away the change would have looked a good idea.

Regular graphical maps of progress below.

Graph 1 is the usual comparison to last year - 24 points compared to Slav's 12 points after 11 games, so exactly double!

Graph 2, comparing to last year's league position, emphasizes our different level this year - still top against 14th and sliding last year

Graph 3 is the usual comparison to my benchmark results to achieve Playoffs and Autos - we are still ahead of my Autos line - but now only by a single point. (Remember that my benchmark lines for promotion are based on who we are facing in the actual games, not on a general statistical average - that is why they are not straight lines).

Graph 4 - following last month's request by SellyOakBlade to include Warnock 05/06 - is a comparison with our last 2 Championship promotions - Warnock's 05/06 promotion season and Wilder in 18/19. We certainly had a fast start in that Warnock season. On 24 points after 11 games this year we are now 2 points ahead of the 22 that we had with Wilder in 18/19 but 6 behind the impressive 30 that we had with Warnock in 05/06. We finished 2nd in both those years on 90 points under Warnock and 89 under Wilder.

I was a bit rough today, and it's an early start for Vikings v Saints tomorrow, so I'll keep off the single malt ethanol-based fluids this week!

Egan played Deeney onside (I was in G block South Stand) people around me agreed with me. When I saw the highlights, I realised it was Berge, not a Birmingham player whose head flicked the cross to Deeney so if Egan had moved higher then Deeney still wouldnt have been offside because of Berge's flick.
