After a promising start, not exactly ripped it up in his last 3 appearances. Has he ??

I would be quick to point out that the above opinion I have is not entirely Madines fault, although he could and should have done better. The gaffers tactics, against Wednesday in particular, do not hold up well under scrutiny.

I would also point out that I am pleased we have him. He is a more than useful plan B.

But apart from the odd, specific game, I just don’t see him as a main option. A plan A.

I also understand that a high percentage of Blades will regard every word of this as bullshit !

For the record, I know and understand why this is so and, bluntly, why the ingrained culture that many mistakenly have, influences thinking in this regard.

It’s a long standing issue and debate I have no desire to reguritate !!!!

None of our four strikers have scored in our last 3 games... go 4-6-0 tonight? :)

FWIW I thought Madine was fine in what amounted to about 120 mins of football in the last 3 matches. As I've seen a few others say, it's possible we'll see a different team every game from here on and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he starts tonight. Reading were the last team to try and play possession football against us (as Brentford will) and he not only bullied the crap out of them but looked excellent on the ball as well.

I don’t think we can blame him for the way we played against Wednesday. There’s other players that didn’t perform that night.

I think he’s been brilliant since joining and I’d welcome him starting tonight.

Football is all about opinions though.

If you read what I have put, I don’t blame him for the Wednesday game either.

Brilliant ?

As you say, all abart opinions !!

It is, but mine is the definitive one. Billy and the Machine please/

Played well against Villa (two assists was it?)
Changed the game against Middlesbrough
Scored two against Reading

The only game you could say he didn’t play well was against Wednesday and I still thought he was more of a threat than any of our other players.

Me too, dodgy burrito I reckon. Be raight though, a kebab'll settle it down and Blades'll win 3-1

Broadly in agreement with most of that.

But don’t kid yourself that it is not “telling” that you cannot come up with equally complimentary remarks in the last 3 appearances, WBA, Wendy’s and Rovrum.

There is of course a reason for this.:)

Irrational pessimism setting in. Last time football and politics collided in this way was May 2015, when we lost the play-off semi against Swindon, and got back to the car just in time to hear the exit poll prediction that Cameron was likely to win the General Election. I fear another double whammy this evening.

I thought he “did a job” against West Brom and Rotherham, I think he’s doing exactly what we brought him here to do therefore I see it as him being brilliant for us.

4-0 to the blades and the dirties lose, going to be a good night. UTB

Do you know how many hes got ALL season ??

We are playing Brentford at home. Not Man City away.

We are part of the top 3 in the league which have pulled away in recent weeks from the rest of the league because we are one of the best sides.

Brentford are decent and play some nice football, but we are favourites tonight because we are a bloody good side!

I've had a bad gurgly feeling since opting for heating up our lass's left over multiple bean chili for tea.

I shit you not

It’s always easier to predict failure than success. And some do it to protect themselves from disappointment. If they’re wrong then they’re happy of course, but if they’re right then they’re less unhappy than they would have been had they not called it. It’s a win-win really. But the facts are that no one has any accurate “feelings” as to how things will turn out. It’s just a form of self protection born out of insecurity. Nothing wrong with that btw - but if left unchecked it leads to pessimism and gloom. And worse.

Best to tackle it head on if you find yourself suffering from it and realise it has no basis except in fear and insecurity.
