My wish list

Free - Nelson (Age 23)- Plymouth 6'2 with Pace
Loan - McCarthy (age 20/21) - Southampton, 6'4 was on loan at Wycombe last season. Was u21 captain year before when they won premie league u21 title

I don't mind get an experienced head alongside those two

I think you (and some others) underestimate the quality of L1. At the top, it isn't much different to the bottom of the championship and to be good enough for a top two side, you need to be at least capable of playing in the championship (as opposed to being decent at that level).
If he's no longer good enough for the championship, he's not good enough for a top two L1 side.

Totally get your point. I watch a fair bit of L1 and honestly feel he'd be good enough.
I maybe should have re-phrased: It's unfortunate he hasn't got the legs for another season in the Championship. By adding: for us. To the end, but didn't want to come across as an arrogant knob.
It wouldn't surprise me if he went to a lower championship club.
We're meant to be going for it next season which means by the same thought that you need lower Champ quality players, we need lower Prem capable players.
Greer would be an asset to many clubs and there's a large part of me that's sorry to see him go.

As a side note, you lot don't fancy a punt on Chris O'Grady or Danny Holla do you?

Please for the love of god don't mention O'Grady

Last season O'Grady would have certainly been a huge improvement on Conor Sammon, but that's not saying much because Sammon was truly the worse forward I've ever seen us had, and there's been a few!

I'd still like to see us sign O'Grady. 30 now but still has at least two or three good years in him. Great pro too.

Excellent target man, a better footballer than Hanson and would score goals in this league.

I remember being excited when we signed him on the back of a decent season for barnsley, albeit one they were relegated in.
I can't recall first hand him actually scoring for us, but can remember him missing an open goal from about a yard out. According to wiki he scored 1 in 31 league games for us and a couple in the cup. He's spent the majority of the season on loan at forest, scoring 2 in 21.
With what we agreed above about you needing players fit for the championship in order to escape L1 next season, I honestly don't think COG would be good enough for you, maybe as a plan C or D if you really need backup but not for your starting 11.
he is a good pro and seems a decent guy, but he's simply not been yet another punt that didn't come off.
That being said, with Wilson (Shit / on loan from manure) and Zamora (OAP) leaving, COG is technically our 3rd forward at the moment. God that scares me.

Agree with ya bout Wilson , he was fucking shocking in second leg against pigs .

He'd certainly be a huge improvement on anything we had alongside Sharp last season. As a target man and leader of the line you know exactly what you're going to get and you won't find many better in L1. I know he didn't score many at Forest and he hasn't been a consistent goalscorer, but he has had good goalscoring seasons in his career and I'm sure if he dropped to L1 at this stage he'd comfortably get into double figures. Goals aren't the main thing with him though, I think he can bring so much more to a team, certainly at our level. He's the sort of player most types of strikers would love to play alongside.

I'd still take O Grady in a hearbeat. Not sure on Greer though. Not seen enough of him but he's certainly getting on and I'd rather look at the likes of Nelson, Tafazolli etc.

No o'grady and no greer both old, o'grady cant score and greer doesnt score from set pieces. I would sign tafazoli and, harlee dean?

Looking for a club that will hopefully, still keep him involved in Strachan's Scotland plans.
After the last two Scottish performances, I think Wee Jimmy Krankie and the Scotty Dog from the Highland Shortbread Tin would also be worth considering.

Read all about it....

The Scotty Dog has gone in four fetlocks, unfortunately...

Just thought Id' drop by with a quick update, no doubt you probably all know this already but here goes:
Greer on trial at Bolton.
O'Grady's to Burton
Forster Caskey to Rotherham.
Hope you're all having a good summer and anticipation is slowly building before the big kick-off in August. We still need a couple of signings (As do you) but I really can't wait for the season to kick off.

Can you loan us Murphy back please? Ta

To be honest, he needs to hit the ground running this season, we seem to have a wealth of wingers and he'll have some stiff competition.

Did he even play against Wednesday in the Play-Offs?

Don't think so, he's behind Knocky, Skalak and Lua Lua in the pecking order, and a mile behind March when he returns from injury. Think he maybe found his level as an un-used sub by the end of the season.
Swap him for Che?

We'd snatch your hand off for a swap with Che

Absolutely.

What are you paying Murphy roughly, any idea?

Ché seems to have such a hype about him at the minute, to be frank it's largely unwarranted. Whilst he does possess pace, power and some strong ability on the ball, the rest of his play is really lacking. Luckily this can all be coached into him, but unfortunately for any prospective buyers - there are question marks over his attitude and work rate. I hope we keep him for one more year though, he definitely has goals in him at this level and I can see his price only increasing. Unfortunately I know how our club works, he'll be gone soon and probably at a fraction of what he's worth in today's crazy market.

From what I can see, attitude and work rate are pretty much top of our list. We keep signing lads with oodles of potential for our development squad, most of which never see the light of day in our first team. We really need a bit of pace up top but (at least hope) we're looking for a more finished article. From the little I've seen of Che he does seem to have a natural talent that I hope you can nurture and turn into something really special. A move away form you at the moment could well be a very bad move for the lad, I really hope you keep hold of him.

To answer the question above: I haven't a clue what we're paying Murphy, but hazard a guess it's considerably more than I bank.

If Tufty is going to play the 4-2-3-1 formation then Murphy would be absolutely ideal as one of the 3. Unfortunately there is 0 chance of that happening though
