Goodbyes at the final home game?

I fear a run of the mill Prem club will be able to offer at least double our offer and a better chance of remaining in the Prem.
Teams like Fulham or Brentford wouldn’t be a bad choice for Illiman, to be honest. Guaranteed to start every match and based in London.

Then kick on from there after a couple of seasons. And if Kalvin Philips is worth £40+ million, then Ndiaye ‘should’ be worth at least equal that even now.

Can't get my head around this fans picking and chosing who our best players should go to... fucking crackers...

Just my opinion mate. IF we do lose him I’d rather see him flourish in someone’s first team playing good football, rather than go to the highest bidder and just be a bench warmer.

I'm praying we really push the boat out on ndiaye and get 1 season with him. Unless he either goes COMPLETELY out of from or a long term injury (which we can insure for) he will hold his value.

If we had reportedly players on 50k the last time we were up Illy should be on the same and probably more. I don't believe it should cause squad disharmony as every other player in that squad will know we have a better chance with him or without him

Stick in some release clauses that can be triggered 12 months on dependent on what league we are in.

If we offered him a one year extension with a 50% pay rise whilst in the Premier League with a relegation release clause, you would think everyone would be happy
50% pay rise? I think all players contracts double when we’re in the Premier League anyway.

Other than the loanees going back, I think that Fleck and JOC will be the only imminent departures.

As said already, I can see Sharp getting another year and Bash is still under contract.

That leaves a bunch who I think we will look to move out, but it will depend on who wants to take them really.

I can see Stevens, Osborn and maybe one of Lowe or Bogle being transfer listed, and then a few being offered out on loan - Blaster, Brooks, Eastwood, Amissah and maybe Brewster to try and get him into some kind of form.

So potentially 8 or 9 outgoings, which is around the number we will need to sign to supplement what we have left.
1 x GK
2 x CBs
1 x WB
2 x CMs
1 x AM
2 x ST

We will need a few good PL loans again, probably a free agent or 2 and then depending on what we have to spend, we may need to pluck away the best from the championship.

Aren't Stevens and Osborn out of contract? If so, they need to be released in the summer. Time to move them on.

Yeah the positions you’re looking to strengthen are pretty much the same as mine. I think we need to target the championship mainly as we haven’t got a pot to piss in quite frankly. We need to bring the average age of the squad down quite dramatically as we are 2 windows away from having a team full of old clangers which is a recipe for disaster

Ah fair enough. Agree we need to replace them now, as good a servants as they have been.

Well that’s why we need ask the question and know where we stand asap in my opinion.

Both are probably open to see what we offer. I don’t believe the story Berge will flat out refuse to negotiate and is set on running his contract down. Just doesn’t seem the type to totally screw us over. I’m sure the story originated from Alan Nixon and I’m absolutely positive Berge does not discuss his contract with that whopper.

Nevertheless, let them both know what our offer is, then see what they want to do.

Say Hecky’s Berge replacement is valued at 15m. We supposedly got offered near 20 for him in Jan. To me it would be smart to then offer him round at 10m, pay the 5 for his replacement and build. Not let him walk for free next summer and have to pay the full 15 out.

Same with N’Diaye.

I’d love them both to stay but I’d also prefer something rather than nothing. If they’re going to go, move them on and pick up the next players who’ll be here for a few seasons not just ticking down a contract.

I’m not daft and know I’ve pulled figures out my arse and football is more complicated than that but surely they can have adult conversations and get everyone’s cards on the table.
It's a sad fact that the obscene £ involved and the huge gap in wealth between PL clubs means that poor relations like us are put in the position of losing our top players before the end of their contracts.
Let's assume that Ndiaye & Berge won't sign new contracts this summer (in their position , I certainly wouldn't).
And let's say we could get £30m for the pair of them , whereas we'd get nothing next year.
We are not a club that can afford to write off that amount.
I totally agree with you that we'd be better selling and finding replacements on longer contracts , coz we are gonna have to find replacements in 12 months anyway.
But I would be gutted to lose them.
One player I wouldn't be gutted to lose is McBurnie , if only someone would offer a few bob for him (we'd have to be careful not to describe him as a footballer so as to avoid legal problems).
As for the "cheerio there's the door" list , there are some heroes of mine who sadly I don't think can contribute next season :
Billy
Bash
Robinson
Enda
Osborn
Fleck
JoC
Davis
Then there are some who need loaning out coz they aren't ready for PL :
Brewster
Jebbo
Osula
Lowe
Bogle (unless we play him in mf)
Arblaster
Brooks
So that leaves a very thin squad :
Wes
Baldock
Anel
Egan
RND
Coulibaly
Norwood
just 7 players
So it becomes crucial to buy
Doyle
and borrow
McAtee
Leaving us the task of finding 16 players to make the 25.
Maybe only 15 if no one will buy McBurnie.
Hope the scouts have been working abroad !

I think a dose of reality is needed. We are probably not going to fill a 25 man squad out and whether people like it or not some players you don't think are good enough will be here next season like Lowe, Sharp, Robinson etc;

Wes
Reserve Keeper
Baldock
Bogle
Basham
Anel
Egan
CentreBack Centre
Robinson
CentreBack Left
Norrington Davies
Lowe
Norwood
Berge
Coulibaly
3 x Central midfielders
Ndiye
Sharp
McBurnie
Jebbison
Striker

Targets (only young and hungry need apply)

Archer (Loan) - Striker - Villa
Doyle (purchase with buy back) - Man City
McAtee (loan) - Man City
Scott (Purchase with sell on)- Midfield - Bristol City
Greaves (Purchase) - Left CB - Hull
Elliott Anderson (Purchase with buy Back)- Midfield - Newcastle
Trafford - (Purchase with sell on) - GK - Bolton

Other options

O'Brien - Midfield - Forest
Colwill - Left CB - Chelsea (highly unlikely)
Hannibal - Midfield - Manure
Gyokores - Striker - Coventry
Piroe - Striker - Swansea
Omobamidele - CB - Norwich
Pedro - Striker - Watford

Blimey, that's more than I realised.

From that list I hope we will offer new contracts to:

Foderingham
Robinson
Norwood
Coulibaly
McBurnie
Sharp - I know a lot feel that his time is up, but I think he is worth another 12 months. He won't cost a lot and brings bags of experience should we get hit by a lot of injuries.

Released (sob)
O'Connell
Stevens
Fleck
Osborn
