Has this Berge won’t sign a new contract come out because Alan Nixon printed something along the lines that Berge might fancy himself as one of the most desirable free agents in the land?

sounds like absolute crap to me.

First thing we need to do for next season if we go up is clear out the out of contracts and any dead wood.

Secondly, offer N’Diaye a structure busting new deal and Berge an extension. If they don’t sign them, then see what suitors are out there and what fees we could recieve. Balance it against cost of replacement v keeping them a year.

After that, see what the crack is with the Man City lads. Doyle on a reasonable permanent with a buyback and then McAtee on another loan?

After that, see what the squad looks like and go shopping.

It's a fucking good job you're not on the board. You'd rather sell him for cents on the dollar now (and require us to acquire three starting central midfielders rather than two), or let him walk for nothing at the end of next season, rather than use less than a million to keep a key first team player happy and retain more than that in resale value at the end of 2023/4? Jesus christ. I'm sorry that he doesn't fit your "box to box scoring 15 a season assisting with 10 more making every single tackle" fantasy land player that you think you can get for what we paid for Berge
Never said sell him for cents on the dollar, just hope we can claw a good figure back for him asap, he’s flopped end of, he isn’t gonna suddenly set the world on fire! If I was on the board he’d have been gone well before now and we’d be no worse off on the pitch but better off financially. No one wanted to pay a premium for him is the reason he’s still here.

If only it was possible to use both the Haha and Wow reactions at the same time, at that opinion is both hilarious and shocking at the same time
It’s true though, wtf do you see in Berge that the majority are missing? My opinion is your opinion is hilarious, border line delusional. And the price tag doesn’t influence me I’d still think he’s a waste of a shirt whether he cost 5mil or 20

So who do we think we will be seeing in a blades shirt/on the walk round lap at BDTBL for the last time, when we play Preston?

When it comes to our better players, I always wish we knew who was leaving, so we could really give it our all in appreciation, but we rarely do

Probably:
Billy
Bash
Enda
JoC
Fleck

Maybe:
McAtee
Doyle
Ndiaye
Berge

That’s huge really 😫
You only started this thread so you could chuck those two last names in didn't you ?

I see slightly more than the traffic cone you appear to think he is
I’ve not made him out to be and wouldn’t make him out to be as bad as your implying I am, I am saying that there’s been no value for money, he’s not performed well enough for us since his arrival here and it’s not gonna suddenly click it just isn’t.

It sounds great in theory but I can't see Berge or Ndiaye agreeing to new deals in the Summer which will put us in a pretty precarious position.

Maybe Billy could become a player/coach?

Whatever league we are in I think it is the end for Stevens, Fleck, JOC and Osborn. I also wouldnt be surprise if Sander is sold, even if we are in the PL given he is in danger of running his contract down.

If we dont get promoted then isnt practically everyone out of the door due to £££?

Well that’s why we need ask the question and know where we stand asap in my opinion.

Both are probably open to see what we offer. I don’t believe the story Berge will flat out refuse to negotiate and is set on running his contract down. Just doesn’t seem the type to totally screw us over. I’m sure the story originated from Alan Nixon and I’m absolutely positive Berge does not discuss his contract with that whopper.

Nevertheless, let them both know what our offer is, then see what they want to do.

Say Hecky’s Berge replacement is valued at 15m. We supposedly got offered near 20 for him in Jan. To me it would be smart to then offer him round at 10m, pay the 5 for his replacement and build. Not let him walk for free next summer and have to pay the full 15 out.

Same with N’Diaye.

I’d love them both to stay but I’d also prefer something rather than nothing. If they’re going to go, move them on and pick up the next players who’ll be here for a few seasons not just ticking down a contract.

I’m not daft and know I’ve pulled figures out my arse and football is more complicated than that but surely they can have adult conversations and get everyone’s cards on the table.

Id keep Billy whatever league we are in. Only thing is he might want to play more games than he will get.

Get the impression he's getting up to speed more now. Think with his age it's taking him longer to get sharp.

Certainly can see osborn, ends, Basham l, fleck not being here next season.

As for prized assets. Can't worry about that. Hopefully they might stay longer if we are promoted. (New deals!)

My concern would be Ndiaye.

If as widely accepted, he's on a small wage in football terms, then his next contract is huge.

He's 24 I think and won't have earned much so far for a player of his ability and age.

I fear a run of the mill Prem club will be able to offer at least double our offer and a better chance of remaining in the Prem.

Tbf I wouldn't blame the lad one bit if he left under those circumstances.

I could see him staying for a bit less than what he could get elsewhere but I expect the disparity to be too much.

Naturally hope I'm wrong.

He's just turned 23

He misses chance after chance 37 years of age , needs to drop down to division 1 if he wants to carry on playing, would be a total waste of contract money when we are skint

It’s an interesting scenario with Iliman, he is probably not currently on a big wage with us, compared to others in the squad
All depends on which clubs come after him in the summer
Say Spurs come in and offer 25 million and 75000 per week, there is no way we can offer him a contract at anything like this level I would have thought
So he will I a sure will be sold before he runs his contract down

If we go up I expect there will be some kind of event in the city which will allow us to show our appreciation for all the players who have played a part in this fantastic season, including those who are out of contract..

Traditionally it's an open-top bus parade from the Lane to the Town Hall, with all the players and staff appearing on the balcony.
Being a traditionalist there should be no recognition by the city.
Blades will have, hopefully, only finished second.
Appreciation, by fans can be shown at the Lane V PNEFC plus in the interim games.
I would suggest that if your expectation comes to be there should be Pork Pies on the menu, more up their street.

Are you prepared to eat your words when his career goes from strength to strength? ( with us or someone else) because mark my words, it will

If the fat wap woman, her fat wap husband and fat wap kid who ran on at the last game last year begging for shirts come on again, there won't be room on the pitch for a lap of honour

Id love to see JOC on for the last minute at Wembley, as I think that would be great to see.

The sad current state of affairs means we might not actually know whose last game it is on the last home game of the season.

So... who we saying bye and thank you to this Saturday vs Preston?

(Out of contract)
Foderingham
O'Connell
Robinson
Stevens
Osborn
Fleck
Norwood
Coulibaly
Sharp
McBurnie

(Loans returning)
McAtee
Doyle
Clark

It’s a shame Robbo, Macca and Doyle haven’t got songs, for us to show our appreciation just in case. They’ve been fantastic.
