A win and finally in the top two. But three key injuries could prove costly in the next couple of weeks.

Good day . Hopefully injuries not to serious , esp Coutts ! Would like to think we have enough quality to beat Bury Tuesday with or without the injured trio . But like I said , hopefully they are not serious but I will change my good to "a bit good!"
As ever UTB!!!

Linz said in shoutbox that Coutts wasn't limping when he came out to watch second half, hopefully he's fit for Tues but I see CW resting him.

A very good day tempered by some bad injuries to 3 key players .

Hope to god they arent bad injuries .

Very good though as ( A ) It was a win that moves us into second and keeps the run going . And ( B ) It serves as a very timely reminder that sides are not going to turn up and simply roll over .They are going to fight like fuck against us and use all means at their disposal both fair means and foul .

If the players ( and fans ) were starting to show any complacency , missing chance after chance AND getting kicked from pillar to post should bring us all back to earth with a bump .

I don't fancy Brown playing if all three are out.

I'd also like to see Clarke start. Done just doesn't do it for me.

I'd give some thought to playing 4-4-2 for this one if they are all out.

You could have Scougall and Chapman wide alongside Fleck and Basham or Whiteman.

Then have Lafferty and Whiteman or Basham right back and EEL and O'Connell centre back.

Otherwise if Wright stays in then you look powderpuff if you end up with Chapman, Fleck and Scougall in a three. Think you need Basham or Whiteman there otherwise.

Let's hope they shake them off.

Think coutts will be fine for Tuesday think it was just a precaution taking him off. Not to sure on Duffy as I think he might have pulled some thing, and freeman looked seriously hurt. But 100 percent a good day 3 points up to second a game in hand and now 13 unbeaten. We was totally in control of the game and looked like we was going to win it all the way through.

a wins a win
shrewsbury sounded very agricultural in their outlook
in the top twu , makes it a very good day
doubt if scunny will worry about only beating 10 men 1-0
and wednesday conceding at the death, makes it better

I'm feeling really, really pissed off after that.

The fucking idiot Deadman ruined the game for a start. Playing against 9 men is always farcical and invites complacency and sloppiness. You're put in a no win situation straight away when the opponents are reduced to 9 or 10 because anything less than a resounding win is disappointing.

We've got three injuries to important players, and we couldn't even score a goal against 9 men - we couldn't even avoid losing the half. Not sure which of those things fucks me off more.

It should and would have been a routine win against 11 men, yet we end up narrowly beating 9 men and paying quite a heavy price. Perfect opportunity for a clean 4+ goal victory but it was just a total mess.

It almost feels like a defeat. At best it's one of the shittest wins we'll ever see.

Done was the weakest link today...goodbye ...or most likely not.

First off we won and are second that is the good news.

The injuries are the big downer today, if Coutts and Duffy , or just one of them, had stayed on we would have run riot against 10 men let alone 9, but with those two off Shrewsbury knew our only creativity in midfield was Fleck and what is more other teams will know that as well.

We may well have to dig in and dig out a few results if those two are going to be out for any length of time.

It's a great day. Finally into the top two. and deserved to win. Think coutts will be OK for Tuesday . and Freeman. Don't know about Duffy though. Did he pull something? Could be a few weeks if so.

The stats will look fantastic but after the first 5 or 10 minutes of the second half it looked unlikely that we'd score more than 3. Even more unlikely when it became clear that Done would be staying on.

Heard some moron on P or G say that we 'tore them apart' in the second half! LOL. He must have missed their second red card, and possibly their first.

The three enforced changes robbed us of the chance to use the subs to score more goals. Although regardless of that EEL shouldn't have been on the right wing.

First half was excellent. Let's not forget that. 2nd was just weird. Don't think you can read too much into it

Injuries are a worry but Wilder didn't seem concerned in his interview to be honest

Being objective, I thought second half was excellent. We had our shape completely ripped apart by the forced changes but we absolutely dominated the game and things didn't quite go our way. Wilder's tactics spot on by increasing the width to make Shrews work very hard and to me the real telling sign is that when the board went up for three minutes injury time they didn't have the energy to close us down or get men forward.

Yeah, it looks like a scrappy 2-1, and it's frustrating not to score more, but we were always going to win that game.

Felt like a defeat (in fact we did lose the 2nd half - against 9 men). But hearing Bradford got taught a lesson by Southend makes it a lot better.

We won, which I suppose is all that matters in the end. But it was a horrible second half (with a few useless performances in there). Just shows we're a long way from the finished article.

Any day United win is a great day, 2nd in the table, game in hand, get a new hobby

Cannot understand that comment ricky 2nd in the league and our unbeaten run extended! Shoes off.

Yep, that's the simple view. But we were always going to win that game as soon as we scored the first goal, certainly the second. The manner of the win was disappointing, it was a missed chance to score a lot of goals, and the injuries we picked up could hinder us more long term than the victory will benefit us.

I was disappointed that we dropped the pace and became sloppy in the second half. Kept running down blind alleys into the corners. They just double teamed the corners to stop us getting round the back and we didn't have the skill to drive into the middle. As for Billy and his penalty, when three old guys all say , 'Its down the middle and saved", you know its time he varies the routine.

Still, its nice to be able to grumble again for once and it might knock some complacency out of them.
