Why does he need good luck?

He's either guilty or incredibly stupid. It's the perfect chance to get a proper keeper in our nets.

because he's a daft two hat and the powers that be are not consistent with there punishments.

Whilst I agree with punishments being inconsistent, that isn't an excuse for Fat Pad. There are only two options here: he is deliberately cheating OR he has been darn stupid and taken something not cleared by SUFC. Either way, he's in breach of contract isn't he?

The excuse that he is a 'daft two hat' is the same excuse that's been used for the last few years to explain Paddy's misdemeanours. I'm sorry but he's is all out of chances for me and I think SUFC may well be finished with him.

Good keeper but a complete pillock.

He will get 6 months atleast.

Its not looking good.

Eduardo, got a 2 match ban for a dive, if this was in a match then it'd only be a booking, but he's been made an example of.

Paddy will also be made an example, he'll be banned for a season, but in that season he'll be given a piggies season ticket and be forced to watch the dross in S6.

Its part of strap on's business plan

What did that bednar from WBA get for coke??

3 months back dated.

But he was only found in possession of that and weed. He didn't fail a drugs test, he had none in his system, he was suspended for being in possession of an highly illegal substance. Paddy failed a drug test, which meant it was in his system, he had took it. And a few online searches for the drug name will show you that it can be used as a performance enhancer amongst several other things.

2 complete different cases, with very little relevance between them.

It was 3 month Pinder. But he didn't fail a drugs test. He was spotted buying coke. The FA were not involved (I believe) and West Brom dealt the punishment.

There is still a little hope for Paddy. Mutu got 7 months for testing positive for a banned substance (coacaine). If Paddy was to get the same then (again I believe) it would start from when he was suspened by United (i.e. when the results were made public). The difference could be that Mutu came out and said he'd been snorting charlie in the West End, whereas Paddy hasn't admitted any guilt.

yeah my only point was he got 3 months for that meaning paddy will likely get a lot more

Whatever happens I hope we get rid. The pratts a liability, he also shown no consideration, IMO, for our club either.

How much extra hassle have we had since he asked for the original hearing to be postponed, what has he and his legal team being doing for the previous 6 weeks before the original hearing?

Hopefully good riddance to bad rubbish.

By the way is the club still paying him a wage whilst he's suspended for severe breach of rules?

Building on what Greg said Effadrine is a performance enhancer. It's a very mild form on apthetamine that is often used for weight loss. It's also known to give extra energy.

Bosnich got 9 months for coke, Rio 8 months for missing a drugs test. I'm expecting it to be between 6 and 12 months.

Why either

He is incredibly stupid - Fact .
He could be guilty as well .

Ignorance is no defense.

I Like the bloke and he's a decent keeper but he is a Proffessional footballer and an employee of the club, and as such needs to act like both.

I hope he's cleared for the sake of the club alone .

hopefully not, and let's hope if he's guilty and it's a long ban we sack him and cancel his contract.

UTB

In my opinion it would be a sad day for us if we lose Paddy. My understanding of the case is that he bought the wrong type of the right brand (tablets instead of liquid - or maybe the other way around) - He's certainly not acted with intent to cheat - nor has he acted with the crass unprofessionalism of those who buy/use coke etc.

We all know he's had a tough time over the last few years (wife etc) - and that he seems to not be the sharpest tool in the box (name me a decent goalkeeper with a doctorate!! :D) - and to buy lozenges rather than a bottle of cough mixture seems an easy and honest mistake to make.

Before we all condemn him out of hand - bear in mind the great performances he's made for us down the seasons and the number of games he's been our man of the match. It's difficult to name more than a handfull of poor performances (except under Robson when nigh on everyone was shit) that Paddy has made.

Paddy - has my best wishes!! - and the calls for him to be fired seem like a total over-reaction :)

I wish him luck too. Yes he's either guilty or stupid but lets not forget we haven't actually signed Bunn so we need Kenny. Bunn will play incredibly well then win a deal at a premiership club ala Greg Halford... We're turning into a feeder club.

I can't help but wonder if it's only Blades fans who react like this when negative things happen. The Battle of Bramall Lane, the Tevez affair, Paddy's drug case all seem to be used to beat the club with.

Aren't football fans meant to be completely one-eyed and unable to see the bad in their club? Perhaps I'm completely wrong but I just can't imagine fans of other clubs calling for punishments to be dished out to them

Most of us don't bother to post on message boards though, so it's only the 'reactionaries' you hear from.

In Agreement Cooperblade.
As stated I hope he's completely cleared - scott free etc .

I can however see why blades would feel so let down by the whole thing of even failing the test.
Paddys lucky enough to pull on a Blades Shirt ( something that we'd happily sell a kidney for) and be paid in the region of £15k a week( according to reports) and cant have the brains to stay within the rules ,either knowingly or not.

Perhaps thats why some would like to see the back of him

Personally I think that if he's done wrong (stupid or knowingly) he should be banned and deal with whatever punishment that they give him.

The club and Paddy should then take it on the chin.

After that its up to Paddy. We have 3 other Keepers at the club now. I wouldn't want to see us sack him just like that, I'd want Paddy to then get his act together and work himself into the ground to earn his place and possibly another contract.

He's been a great servant to the club on the pitch, has worked hard at his game and has stuck by us as much as we've stuck by him. He (and probably more his agent) had a blip a few months ago but that was all sorted.

Back the punishment but also back the man
