After initially feeling dubious with the Nigel Clough appointment i am now coming round and even believe this could be a stroke of genius getting him,and i am quite excited now.
I think he will get us playing decent football but more attacking than DW(but that wouldn't be hard would it?):)
Good luck Mr.Clough in your 1st game and for the future at Sheffield United.

Pretty much summed up my thoughts exactly.

I watched that short Forest & I film and remembered what a top guy Brian Clough was. Got goose pimples when all 4 sides of the City Ground were singing his name. It's stuff like that what makes blade fans great. Surely some of Brian has rubbed off on Nigel.

Another good thing is - he's been managing for 15years only been out of work about 3 weeks and were only his third club so I expect he's in it for the long haul with us.

Welcome to Sheffield Cloughie lad !

Well if he is only half as good as his dad then he'll do for us, good luck to the guy I suspect he may need it with the current board of incompetents.

Are you sure you're not Brian the Blade?

Thankfully, I don't think luck will come into it. His experience and ability will have everything to do with the success I expect him to bring to us.

At the very least he will be a safe pair of hands. He understands lower league football and has proved he can perform sufficiently in a higher division. In my opinion the timing was very fortunate and we should be thankful to get a solid, experienced manager.

100% behind him and hope he can turn things around. Could this finally be the man to lead us back to the Championship?

Go on Cloughie, show Derby what they've lost!

Cloughies post match interview

This is no slight on previous managers. But just a comment about Cloughie.

He looks genuinely chuffed with the result. No cliches, nothing about one step at a time, just clearly loves football.

Smiling and sharing a joke. Long may this continue. I always thought he was quite dull previously but seems to have some spark about him.

He celebrated every time we scored. His dad wasnt like that. Nearly every time his team scored he would remain sat in the dugout and with his arms folded. His idea of celebration after winning a trophy was to come home, put the trophy on the top of his TV and have a fish and chips supper!

He did some brilliant shouting during the match as well. We could hear him half way up the Kop, though King seemingly couldn't as he made a point of looking away and then tying his boot laces while he was receiving a bollocking.

I'm a Clough fan, but there's nothing brilliant about shouting per se. It's the context and content that matters.

SemiPro used to shout a lot. It was bollocks and it least two players let him know that publicly.

Warnock, leaving aside the debate about his qualities and achievements for another day, often made himself look quite ridiculous with his touchline antics.

If Nigel succeeds at the Lane, and I fervently hope he does, it won't be because of his shouting!

But no ones saying that are they ? Theyre just expressing surprise that he Is more animated than they had been led to believe

Pinchy , I was just impressed by the projection he managed to get on his voice in a relatively noisy stadium.

Of course, what he is shouting makes all the difference, but it is good to see a manager issuing instruction, or alternatively letting players know when they've dropped a bollock by not following his instructions, rather than standing lifeless looking like they want the ground to swallow them up.

I see this as the manager taking responsibility for what is going on on the pitch rather than Weir's apparent approach of "well, I've picked the team, it's up to them now."

In a team that has very few effective leaders in the starting XI, I welcome the idea of a Manager barking out orders to his players.

This photo was taken during the Crawley game and nothing made my piss itch more then seeing our Manager and Asst. Manager stood like a couple of bored spectators whilst their players were disorganised, slacking and arguing amongst each other. If ever an image summed up their reign...
