Well I've lived in North Leeds for 25 years and we go to Harrogate quite often.

Lovely town if you've never been.

Great pubs, bars and restaurants, to say nothing of Betty's.
Quality olde-worlde restaurant and the most amazing cakes.
Not cheap but the you do get what you pay for.

And, Fat Rascals, especially the spiced seasonal ones!

Fantastic range of teas and coffees as well
No never been, sheltered life an all that;), but am salivating just reading descriptions of the fare on offer at Betty's.
Fat rascals, proper Yorkshire grub, Betty's now on my list of places to visit, ta.
Shooting off at a tangent, so to speak but you'll see the link, the recent demise of a favourite singer(jazz) brought out a fact, unbeknown to me, that as a child she had appeared and sung in a 'Little Rascals' film.
I now am watching these 20 minutes shorts, on and off, to great pleasure as they embody the humour of there time, which I remember as a kid together with the accompanying memories of cinema visits of the late 40's early 50's.
The 'Little Rascals' metamorphosed into 'Our Gang' as the actors got older. Both, Hal Roach(of Laural&Hardy fame) productions.

Yorkshire clubs? Middlesbrough didn't do all that well.

Hull City weren't too sparkling either!

And Bradford City and Doncaster will be a tad disappointed I think.

I think some folk forget Middlesbrough when they think "Yorkshire". I always think it's amusing when some of our fans start calling them "Geordies" because their accent has some similarities I suppose, to the untrained ear.

Hull also gets forgotten as being in Yorkshire, due to the more recent administrative creation of "Humberside". But most people I've met from Hull consider themselves to be Yorkshire and part of the old East Riding of the county.

Ah those were the days. When Yorkshire was divided up into "Ridings", North, East and West. Sheffield was in the West Riding of Yorkshire. There was no South Riding, the reason being that "Riding" derives from the word "Ridding" - meaning "one-third". So the county was split into 3 - because 3 thirds make a whole one!

(Amazing what you can learn on here eh?) ;)
