Good, honest asessment of where we are

Its not just Adams though, thats 4 managers we have had this season and not one of them has managed to identify that we have a shocking lack of pace in the team. Not one of them appeared to try and address it either.

As for all 4 of them playing Cresswell, I can only presume he has it written into his contract that he gets a non-playing bonus every week if not selected.

Although I agree with you about the lack of pace in the team, two of the managers never even had a transfer window open to them to address the issue and all four have precious little available players with to promote to the first team.

For me the bigger concern at the moment is that none of the four managers this season have been able to get our lads looking and playing like a team. Just about every performance has been disjointed and we've looked very uncomfortable.

Seemingly his main qualification for the job being that he's a Blades fan born in Sheffield, Adams had found his level with Port Vale in League Two, and the powers that be at S2 showed a shocking dereliction of duty by not realising that, and as a result overlooking his candidature for that simple reason.

It was a nonsensical appointment made with the heart rather than the head. An 11-game winless run, with four points taken from a possible 30 since their last victory way back on December 18 is all the evidence you need to back up such an argument.

Disagree with those two paragraphs, whether you agreed with the appointment or not, it could never be described as nonsensical.

Who the hell is/are Fanhouse UK? I'd never heard of them until now.
Hardly a Premier league website - more 3rd Division I'd say.

Agreed. The stats of his tenure so far don't look good, and whether he can turn things around we don't know, but the appointment was never nonsensical. What the author hasn't tried to do is suggest who we should have gone for. If he had then he might have seen that there weren't that many alternatives, given that the one we apparently wanted said no.

I believe, that you cannot fully assess ANY Manager until he's had a full "closed" season, so that he can re-build his squad, and establish style of play, and fitness levels that befits his own requirements.

I looked at our squad BEFORE a ball was kicked this season and thought that it had relegation written all over it. (I hope I'm proven WRONG!)

Three managers later has not made me change my mind, especially as we have lost Morgan in the middle of defence.

I would still wish that Micky Adams is in charge come September, regardless of which League we are competing in.

I thought with the chance (once more) to right the wrongs of the past it was utterly non sensical to employ MA. I like him, he is honest but he got the job (in my opinion) because he was a Blade, not because he was the best man for the job. We said we were going to be patient but as I see it we weren't and didn't make the right decision. There have been some very good managers come available of late (not discounting second choice Steve McLaren) and had we been patient we could have had one of them. I can guarantee you that our run under Adams wouldn't have been any worse had our cat been in charge. Why not wait to get the right man rather than compound the fracture already made.

All that said, our biggest mistake was sacking Blackwell when we did. It was a disgracefully timed decision that reflects very, very badly on those at the top.

KB had been extremely unpopular for months, with negative tactics that were boring fans to death (playing 4-5-1, even at home). He should have gone in the summer.
If he had stayed he, too, would have had to cope with the loss of Morgan and Henderson. He was also heavily criticised last season for the use of loanees, but he would have had little choice but to do the same this season - just like Adams. It's so easy to be wise after the event.

So we should have sacked him after Ipswich last season and not given him 2 games into the new season and knee jerked just because Warnock the Blade won in our back yard. Thats not being wise after the event its saying what many said at the time.

Agree, I think sacking KB after 2 games of the season was almost as daft as appointing Robson. (note the 'almost'...the Robson appointment was insane, as virtually everyone on here noted at the time)
And if the rumours are true that TB had lined up SOD and was then overruled by BigKev then the appointment of MA appears equally crazy, the only advantage of MA was the perceived ability to scrap our way out of this seasons relegation battle rather than try and change the playing style in the middle of a dog fight...4 draws and 4 defeats this year in the league suggest that's not worked out quite as expected. Mind you SOD is hardly pulling up trees at the moment.

' I can guarantee you that our run under Adams wouldn't have been any worse had our cat been in charge.'

Did your cat do a self promotion in writing that? Let's give M.A. some respect. At the very least he is trying to improve the squad.
Whatever way you look at it, Blackwell is no more, he has gone. Let's get behind M.A. and the team.
