Respect to Silent Blade! I watched that video (thanks Digger!) it's an old favourite of mine, I said to family tonight that looks like Sheffield United but I'd no idea whether it really was. Fascinating!

This is a long standing family favourite. The scene when Gordon goes for a drink in the supporter's club bar is a particular highlight for me. One of my brothers still cries with laughter when the results board splits in half.

We all still believe that it's an intentional illustration of what it's like to be a Blade at our lowest moments. I don't think the kit is the only nod to United in it.

It is and he made the point when he was interviewed about the Ripping Yarns series.

My user name should give away I'm a massive Ripping Yarns fan. My favourite bits are when he throws the brick at his son and the 8 bloody 1 bit.

Hagerty F., Hagerty R., Tomkins, Noble, Carrick, Dobson, Crapper, Dewhurst, MacIntyre, Treadmore, Davitt.

Davitt scored twice in the last 3 minutes, and Frank Hagerty saved a penalty

I agree. I saw Palin on TV quite recently and he was talking about football and supporting the Blades. He was saying how it can be absolutely awful at times to be a football supporter. He still obviously takes an interest though. That travel series he did when he was in Malaysia was great. Sits in the barbers chair and asks him how the Blades are getting on! And has a "Blades on Tour" sticker on his bus!

This is fantastic! Way before my time but it rings painfully true of a lot of my time watching United. I'm sure my mum used to prepare for me and my dad getting home after a defeat by concealing anything of value. She quite openly used to say that the weekend was ruined if we'd lost, as we'd both be in such a foul mood!

A kid turned up in track suit for our Sunday Sheffield junior league U15's team last season. He stripped off just before kick off to realise he'd forgotten his shorts! He had some Lycra running tights on beneath his track suit, so he played the entire match in them! Never seen anything so hilarious! Like Rudolph Nureyev on the wing!

I posted that clip about "Goodbye shorts - Hello football! On the club website afterwards! Always makes me smile - especially after that!

Gordon Ottershaw is me when I was a bit younger...still absolutely what football should be all about. Good to see Barnestoneworth in the red and white stripes as well...nails forever who my favourite Python supports....the comment about Eric Olthwaite is prophetic for Ched Evans next year as well (weren't he the bank robber - that was never proven). Jolly good stuff Digger
