This was the week that was! 3 winnable games & the slim chance to push into the play offs.

2 nil nil draws in games we probably should have won has finally extinguished those dim hopes. We have no form at all, just look at Fulham, Millwall, Cardiff, Middlesbrough [& us from games 4 - 17] to see what a run of form looks like & the difference it can make. At the moment we have no answer to those above us, & our poor form means that we are struggling to get a result against the rest.

I don't like criticising CW but our current attack is v poor, cant remember last time Clarke scored, not sure he should have been brought back today. Making attacking changes at 71 & 81 minutes is leaving it late, they should have been ay half time.

Feel very disappointed today, this season is just drifting into nothingness after some excellent performances before Christmas.

You could argue we have eight points from twelve if we ignore the game away to the best team in the league

Two points off 5th means we are still in it, Millwall are on a great run but have played bottom teams, long way to go yet.

Bit dramatic.

Haven't lost. 5 from 9 isn't awful when most teams around us are getting similar. Fulham and Cardiff are auto contenders so looking at them is daft.

Still to play teams around is too.

It's getting harder every week and you have to wonder where the goals are goin

Of the 4 teams you mentioned 2 of them drew just the same as us today and one of them is still below us.

We're still only 2 points off. The fate of where we stand in the table at the end of the season is still very much in our hands

here we go again.. groan

Absolutely no idea how people are seriously saying "play offs are over" when we haven't lost any ground on Boro and will have actually made ground on Derby if they lose to Cardiff.

I don't think we will get the play offs but saying we have nothing to play for and that we can't get top 6 is ridiculous when we are 2 points off

All the more important to be picking up points in winnable games.

We play both 6th and 7th at home.

Finishing in the top 6 is still in our hands.

The international breaks comes at a good time no more for any team than us.

Brooks needs more time, Clarke also, Basham will benefit. I daresay the wingbacks could do with a breather.

8 matches left and 2 points in it. Still plenty to play for.

Anyone’s game.

The key was in 2 thoughts;

Who is going to score? Because on the evidence of the last few games I am not sure.
Our form is inconsistent at best & our inability to win is apparent to the most optimistic!

And I am not sure it is getting harder, is that a realistic idea? Its not the opposition that is getting harder, its us that are not playing as well.

You all say 2 points off 6th, but look who we have played, it should have been a minimum of 7 points & we would have been joint 5th.

Cannot see more than 2/3 wins to end of season, not even sure we will get to 70 points now!

Going for a bath!

Whilst I predict we will fall short I cant believe some are saying the season is over when it's totally in our hands. We must look ridiculous to any neutral fans who see the doom and gloom posts

Blackers kept us in it today. We didn't create enough, but the conditions didn't help. Playoff hopes not over yet, but the remaining fixtures look tough

doesn't matter Vic as long as we hang in there. the season could turn again on a sixpence and suddenly 'boom' we start playing well again

or....

3 games unbeaten
3 clean sheets
No longer leaking soft goals

If Derby lose tomorrow we remain 2 points off 5th with 8 games to play.

Very much still in our own hands. We still have the opportunity to beat Boro, Preston, Bristol City and Millwall - 3 out of those 4 at home.

OP

Big deal. This season has been more than good enough. We've announced our return after six years in the toilet, not lost against those fuckers up the city and shown what a good manager can do for a relatively big club with good support.

I'll take a place just outside the playoffs, thank you very much. There is no fucking way in anyone's delusion that Sheffield United are equipped for the Premier League at the moment (in fact, I can't really think of one player who'd properly cut the mustard upstairs) and I'll thank you for a refusal at a derisory exit in the first round of the playoffs or the anguish of another battering on the Wembley turf. To finish in a respectable position is achievement, to be easy meat and a vehicle for others success is summat I can do without.

We need to sort the shit out at HRH/McCabe level too. Wouldn't it be just fucking splendid if we were oddly promoted and locked in a financial bollock-clamp with both parties unwilling to invest because of a long-standing ownership feud? We need owners who are prepared to invest to get into the PL and then invest to stay there, not 'Game Changing/Think Liverpool' shite, or both parties briefing against each other in the press.

Well done Wilder and the players.

pommpey

Remember last year end of season?. Hope we stay up should be no problem Bolton are crap and Millwall how the f**k did the get promotion. We still have a chance, but let Wilder strengthen the team. With what we have we are not ready.

So let's get this right, you don't think we are good enough to get play offs, yet have a pop at all those who agree with you?? WTF?

People are saying "play offs are over" which is absolutely insane. People can predict we won't get in but to say it's over is absurd when we are 2 points off

Not gone yet but we now need to beat Brentford and Cardiff.

*g to come from though.

My phone just likes to cut the end off stuff now.

It's not gone, 8 games to play, 2 points off, etcetc.
I reckon people who are thinking that we won't make it though, are basing it on us looking like we've run out of steam and to a lesser extent, ideas and confidence.

We've given it bloody everything and if we do peter out a bit, fair play, we won't have left any effort behind and will still finish far better than most of us had hoped.

But aye, mathematically and down to the fixtures, we still could. Quick break, then one last balls in effort

Give me strength! We have got everything to play for, we are still in the mix and can make the playoffs. What is wrong with some people?

Its the hope that kills you! So tantalisingly close, yet 2 points dropped last week, & another 2 this week mean we never actually get there!

And if we win 3 of Preston, Boro, Millwall & Bristol I will eat my dog collar!

Yes it has been a good season, its just that our form & performances have dropped away whilst others have improved as the games go by!

Imagine being a Forest/pigs/L***s fan.

Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and reassess your disappointment.
