Perhaps we should try playing the first 10 minutes in the same way?

Oi! Who's the statto round 'ere? :)

This is becoming a worrying trend. As ever, the first half just passed us by. Baxter's 'effort' in the first minute was our one and only attempt. We should be tearing into teams from the start at home. Result? We go in 0-1 down, are - as usual - chasing the game and, as last week at Chesterfield, it was too little, too late. Reactive. Not in control of our own destiny. Not good enough.

Great when it comes off, of course (cf. Gillingham) but hardly the recipe for promotion when we're relying on goals at the death every blood week.

Exactly! Better teams will be out of sight by the time we score our first goal.

I wonder how that breaks down to McNulty being on the pitch?

Surely he can't be left out any longer?

I feared we'd see what we saw today (Jose stuck up front, McNulty on the bench) and was on about it Thursday/Friday, not sure why he hasn't been starting of late... Lad causes trouble, works hard, good touch and has been scoring!

Reminds me very much of Billy Sharp in his genral play and knack of being in the right place at the right time.

The continual swapping around of the team is getting boring now.

Absolutely no continuity at all.

Clough is not untouchable and his team selections continue to be...........strange.

Would have been interesting if Baxter had put that one away in the first couple of minutes ,different anyway.

you are spot on, but the finsh was indicative of a player who is no where near match fit.

rest of the game showed it - his first touch numerous times was useless.

Lets be right Mcnulty should have started.

He hasn't been match fit since we bought him ,how long do we give him ? Besides it was the 2nd minute ,wasn't that difficult a warm up was it ?

We haven't been in front at half time all season in a league game.

Clough needs to:

- pick a back 4 and stick with it
- drop Scougall
- start JCR
- start at least 1, and preferably 2, out and out strikers

I still have my doubts re McNulty but the lad is putting the ball in the net, and he deserves a start.

This 4-6-0 garbage does nothing but waste a half of football

Me, I, meself personally, ooh flippin heck I came over all Brian there!

Good points Revolution, I totally concur.

1. We have too many midfielders and NC is struggling to try and accommodate them all. On the evidence of recent games, start with JCR and Murph as your wide two. Bring Flynn on as your impact sub.
2. McNulty has to start, he works hard, unsettles defenders and is starting to find the net. That was a fine finish yesterday.
3. Scoogs needs dropping and Baxter needs to be told to get on a flaming diet pronto or he is going to burst his shirt!
4. Stop messing about with the back 4. pick your 4 and stick with them, let them get more game time and understanding of each other.

I do not think we are a million miles away, but the tinkering needs to stop and the team needs a rocket before kick off to go and play in the first 45 minutes. This is a poor league and is there for the taking if a little ambition is shown.[/QUOTE]

McNulty is the striker we need. Him and Baxter as a pair up top would be my front two choice.

McNulty has 3 in last 4 league games now, and should have scored in the game vs Gillingham. All this, without ever being shown a modicum of faith by Clough.

Just like a snowball gets bigger as it is rolled - the clamour for Mcnulty gets bigger and louder.

Come on my Scottish friend - greatness awaits a goal scorer at BDTBL Deane/Agana/Edwards,yes and Ched, pre trial) will testify to this.

You have the ability - go and grasp it.

To me at home we should always have two up front Baxter and McNulty would be fine with Higdon coming later if required. Got to start with JCR, he unsettles defenders at this level
