Just seen the goals conceded. First saw no pressure on play; McDonald jogging back and not stopping the cross and then McMahon completely outjumped (barely a challenge)

Second similiar with no pressure and then Collins turned easily. Third saw McMahon nowhere and then Collins air shot and a tap in.

Woeful defending that you would not expect on the park and after the 4 at Stevenage it shows Guy Whittingham is right about teams knowing our weaknesses; namely if we lose it quicker players can break, turn us over and create chances very easily.

Just a few points about Collins; I hear a lot on here about he has been player of season and how he could make step up but I dont see it. He was woeful when we went down; he was decent last year and fairly consistent but I actually think he has been up and down this season and the weakest of the two centre backs. You could argue even Hill has been more consistent.

Today he was at fault for 2 of the 3 imho (other culpable) but to let a man turn and score easily and then completely miskick in front of goal is inexcusable. This is after being largely at fault for the Brentford equaliser; mistake v Crawley and a number of other errors in recent weeks.

If he is one of our better (and some say more consistent - seems to make a mistake almost every game these days) then god help us!

If we wern't all Blades we would piss ourselves laughing at such defending :(

Thing is, Deadbat, today he WAS our best player, despite his defensive frailty. In other areas he tackled well (including a sweet, slid dispossession in our area worthy of Cahill) and at least tried to connect with some woeful corners from McMahon.

True, he did miscontrol, but who the fuck should have had the player coming in on his six-o'clock? And him being beaten to the near post - why do we let teams in the box in the first place like that?

pommpey

Can somebody tell which player (as I was a bit pissed) that fluffed hoofing the ball clear leading to pompey scoring the easy 3rd goal at the back stick?
I'd like to say well done in missing the ball.

I don't understand how Collins got any award for this season, he's been the weaker link out of him and Maguire this season. He also could be blamed for us losing automatic, with the 2 goals against Crawley being down to him. and Brentford equalizing. I certainly wouldn't want him in the championship imho, we've seen him and he is not a character you want in a side that will struggle if we do go up.

I think that the thing Collins and Doyle have been 2 regulars for a side that is constantly failing (3 seasons0 when it comes to the crunch....Look at Bournemouth and Weds last year. Their players rose to the occassion. Ours (with those two good examples) go to pieces.

I can only think whoever gave them new contracts (another 2 years !!!) must have been pissed. Seriously. We are stuck with these two for the forseeable.

He really hasn't. He was regularly getting Maguire out of the shit and had probably been our most consistent player until recently, when he's began to struggle.

The second goal against Crawley was a Maguire error.

I would blame Collins 50% for that goal. He started to go for the ball then pulled out leaving Maguire flat footed and in no mans land.
Collins has been woeful for the last couple of months, mistake after mistake

Fair enough then I've only seen it the once, live. All I remember is Maguire's miscontrol.

Just seen them. Embarrassing defending from Collins

He seemed to be off balance as if he was in starring in some sort of Harold Lloyd film.

And when it finally trickled through to the player who scored, who gently tapped into the net, the goalkeeper dived the wrong way as if he was trying to save a penalty.
