Never started a thread before so fully expecting to get absolute pelters for a spelling mistake or for having missed this somewhere else but here goes...

Its all change in the goalkeeper department this summer with a new number one and number two but it seems to be the done things to name a third goalkeeper to cater for coinciding injuries/suspensions. Just wondered who people think it will be?

Moore - the obvious candidate but has just had some pretty brutal looking hand surgery that could rule him out for a while.

Verrips - the next most obvious candidate but haven’t seen hide nor hair of him in preseason (not in the GK training vids) and a poster on here suggested he’d been seen training alone in Norfolk Park... not a great sign if true?

Eastwood - next down the pecking order but now out injured for a while (having been recalled from his loan to Kilmarnock).

Dewhurst - out on loan at Carlisle.

Amissah - playing with the U23s, don’t follow the youth as much as many on here but is he our surprise number 3 for this season? Not unimaginable given the incredibly remote chance of him actually being called on - and given his age (19 I think) he wouldn’t take up a spot in the 25 man squad.

that’s my thoughts anyway - probs got a shit load of the detail wrong.

For me, probably Moore or Verrips purely from an experience point of view. Shame about young Jake as I think a season up at Kilmarnock would have really helped him, but I'm hearing his injury will take a bit of time to clear up.

Also with Moore, depends how long it takes his injury to clear up too.

probably be Moore due to his experience

Stopped reading when I saw you’d spelt Goalkeeper lower case 😀

Only joking, good post.

For me it has to be Verrips and if not then what on earth is he doing here.

Regarding Moore, it should be a thanks for the service but at his age it would be in the interest of his career to get another club.

The young lads keep progressing their careers accordingly unless it’s deemed they aren’t going to make it

Judging by Moore's injury and the amount of importance you'd place on a keepers hands as his main tools, he'll be out for a number of weeks I'd expect.

Verrips is an odd one. He won't be on big money but it seemed like a fair bit of effort to get him to the club to never be in contention.

It’s an odd one - when he came in I thought (and don't think I was alone) that he might be the long term Henderson replacement. Now it appears he is behind Moore in the pecking order and seems like something of a forgotten man.

He’s young, especially for a keeper, so if the Premier league potential is there but he isn’t ready then he should be out on loan somewhere getting matches under his belt (like Dewhurst and Eastwood (pre-injury)).

Was Moore injured or was it an op'? That we brought Foderingham in as well as Ramsdale leads me to believe this may have been either planned or Foderingham was a 'quick fix' for no keepers. As it is letting it heal and then getting back up to speed I think this is the last of Moore and he will leave either paid up or on a freebie.
Verrips no. three.

If that’s what it looks like post op it must have been a right mess when he went in. TBH it looks like he’s from Barnsley and has had one removed?

Third choice is between Moore, Verrips and Eastwood, it was Verrips last season so given the injuries, it will be him again. Once Moore is fit that may change, I’d expect Eastwood to go on loan again in January, if fully fit? 😉

I think Eastwood was a season long loan? Obviously depends on the severity of the injury as to whether this loan is paused or ended. I'd think once January comes and the lad is fit, possibly another loan. I'm puzzled with the Verrips issue, we seemed to go to an awful lot of trouble, and he's about as likely to get even on the bench as I am.

Doubt we'll be signing a GK with 5 in the first team.. Wes, Davies, Eastwood, Dewhurst and Amissah

Faxon and Yam in the u21s also.

There’s also Dylan Wharton that we signed last year from Chesterfield and Hiddleston. We’ve got a lot of academy/reserve keepers.
Forgot about Wharton, he'll fight it out with Faxon and Yam then.

Hiddleston has been released with Hempshaw.

You mean give then away. No ones buying a reserve keeper from us.
They may be our reserves but in lower leagues/non league they may well be in demand.
Clearly not millions, but even £50k goes some way towards running costs.
