Jamal is just a beast. Just looking at him he towers over most. He catches nearly everything in the air. his kicking is suspect (occasionally.) No one would fancy taking him on one on one. He does sometimes appear too casual tho I have never seen a keeper so laid back, but having said that I wouldn't swap him for moore. I wonder if his confidence might crack if we have a wobble but so far he has looked a class addition!
How many of us when Wolves got a pen looked at him between the sticks and thought "fuck me he is absolutely massive" I would guess the lad taking the kick did which may answer why he hit the post.

Jam is ok apart from the times when he and a defender are both going for the same ball. Needs to communicate better and remember the adage if you're going for it clear everything out including your own if necessary

Well yes possibly, but as you’re aware, as an engineer, I can verify that the instances of people creating problems that weren’t there far outweigh the ones that occur naturally. It’s a pity footballers don’t have self-test diagnostics that warn managers of impending crap performances.

How are you didling by the way mate, keeping that reprobate Adey and the Pigs in check?
That's very true Gray!

I'm dong ok pal. Adey has fallen out of love with football. Can't say I blame him - I'd have sought a divorce from that shower that he supports many years ago. It's quiet on yon board from the trottered ones. Us Blades have taken over now and I reckon we could meet in a phone box rather than on a message board! But it's still fun and mostly good humoured.

Last two away games , goals 5 for 4 against, but it's OK he play's for a Premiership team...

Not sure you could lay the blame for the Forest goals at Blackmans door, 9 times out of 10 our players would have cleared those weak balls

Yep... football is that simple.

I blame Blackman for Fleck not clearing the danger on Saturday.

You might be joking but in the Shoutbox on Saturday someone did blame Carter-Vickers. They actually blamed him for both goals and said we wouldn't have conceded either of them if Wright was playing o_O

Blackman is cover, he's not our p!ayer, he's there because our player was injured. If our player (Moore) isn't good enough then we need a new keeper, not someone to cover...

So by your reckoning because we brought him in as cover. which we didn't may I add, he should automatically be dropped for no apparent reason?

We can look at Blackman's performances this season, but it would be unfair if we didn't look at Moore's performances last season too. Both have done very well, but I'd be inclined to recall Moore as he's our player, not a loanee, and was an important member of the team in our promotion season. Blackman's done very little wrong, but neither hs Moore.

I remember when we had Tracey and Kelly, both were excellent keepers and neither deserved to be dropped. It's always good to know you have a first class keeper on the bench.

I can't make my mind up whether you're being serious and I should reply as such.
I'll choose to believe you're joking and have a laugh instead as that will cause a lot less offence.

So there's no such thing as a great save then ? He just happens to be standing in the right place ...

Moore hasn't played, last season doesn't count any more. Why change something that isn't broken?

Have we had any other players with a Champions League medal?

For the same reason that we don't put out the same team every week, and leave other fit players on the bench. To keep players involved, and keep up the competition for places. We are lucky enough to have two excellent keepers.

BTW Moore was an important part of our success last season, and made some vital saves. He has been our best keeper since Kenny. I'd be interested to know why his performances last season "don't count any more"?

Each game is different, and we will set up differently for many games. Would you always play the same team after a win, regardless of our next opponents and the nature of our last win? Giving game time to our best players is important, even keepers

Bloody hell you were being serious!

What has "great saves" got to do with it? You were inferring that if you concede goals the goalkeeper has to be at fault. That is quite clearly NOT correct.
Was every goal Woody banged in from 25 yards a goalkeeping error? Nah, course it wasn't.

I’m afraid it’s much simpler (very, very simple indeed) than that.

The defenders should make sure the goalie doesn’t have any shots to save. They haven’t done that. All of them must be replaced.

By the end of the season we will have fielded 36 goalkeepers and 108 Centre-backs. Thank Pele we have such a large squad.

We have a goalkeeper in the team that's helped us to 3rd after 11 games. We have a goalkeeper on the bench who helped us reach 100pts last season.

Not a bad position to be in really.

Because that was last season. As Wilder has said there's no room for sentiment. So far this season he hasn't played so hasn't done anything to warrant being put in ahead of Blackman, who hasn't done anything to warrant being dropped.

I understand the idea of squad rotation but you don't do that with Goalkeepers. And generally, yes you would keep a winning team together.

Didn't we used to rotate with Tracey and Kelly?

Blackman hasn't conceded many, but for me he's looked shakier in his handling and less assertive and vocal than Moore. You can't keep a player in a team automatically, just because that team is winning. We might have had Lee Baxter, George Long or Alan Simonsen in goal this season and still be third in the table. Would our good results justify keeping any of those keepers in the team if Moore was available?

If any of those keepers were currently doing a good job, as Blackman is doing, then yes it would justify it. There's nothing to suggest that Moore would be any better than Blackman so why change something that is already working?

No , you can only blame Fleck for giving them the chance to score ..

Jamal Blackman- Conceded 10 goals in 11 games. Concedes a goal every 1.1 games at championship level.

Simon Moore- Conceded 42 goals in 43 games in League 1. Concedes a goal every 1.02 games at League 1 level.

So based on your theory, Blackman is better even a division higher.

My own personal take is that there’s very little between them. On the one hand, I would like to see Moore reclaim the place on merit because he’s our player and likely to be here next season. On the other hand, Blackman is young and may improve through the season and become formidable in the 2nd half of the season. But most importantly, I’m an advocate of not dropping people without good reason so for me, Blackman keeps the shirt…. For now…… unless CW sees something in training from Moore that impresses him over and above what he’s seen from Blackman. This is one of those situations where I’m entirely comfortable with whoever Chris chooses. Much like the Freeman/ Baldock conundrum (when both are fit). Less than a fag paper between them. It’s a good position to be in. Not like when there was less than a fag paper between Long and Howard because they would both cost us a goal each game.

Blackman is one of the key reasons to why we are in 3rd place. I feel comfortable having a giant keeper who claims crosses with ease. He is very agile too. The jersey is his to lose

but would we be third in the league with baxter, long or simonsen in goal? I think not my friend. Thats like saying we would still be third if we had hanson & hammond in the team? we love to speak of the team been "better than the sum of its parts" well blackman is one of those parts, if we were 3rd bottom instead of 3rd top then yes, Moore walks back in, but Blackman has done nothing wrong, till he does leave him there.

We can debate this point until the cows come home but CW and his coaches will see how they train. In Moores case, being injury free isn't necessarily match fit or match sharp.

The other side of the coin is that Blackman is here on loan to get game experience. By putting him on the bench too often, Chelsea could recall him to get that experience elsewhere. We would then be in a position like at the beginning of the season where many on here were nervous of only having Eastwood as cover. Moore on the other hand is contracted here and has less options to move elsewhere.

CW is smarter than most of us, let him decide. Do we trust him or not?
