I know that he’s been out but what was Davies thinking about?! Started to close the man down, changed his mind, then completely ignored / forgot the other player, leaving him completely free. When you watch the angle from behind the net you can see that he realises his own mistake and tosses his head back in despair but it’s too late by then.

Egan's intervention isn’t great either, it would have been a penalty if not an own goal. He has a habit of angling his body when he attempts blocks, rather than remaining square on, which invites trouble.

It looked like he just dropped a bollock. He seemed to think Baldock hadn't got the man and then realised too late and neither got the man.

There were a number of defensive issues yesterday. They put in two identical crossed from the left within 5 minutes. Both times Robinson was caught the wrong side, Egan was nowhere to be seen and no one (Baldock or Berge) closed the man down. It was farcical. There's no one organising at the back and it's all over the shop.

Robinson was really poor yesterday, on Tuesday Hecky needs to go with Filip, Egan and Davies for the back three.

I'd rather have the young lad in than Davies. He was garbage yesterday. Totally at fault for the goal and looked nervous on the ball. Took the ball, looked up, saw an opposition player coming towards him, panicked and turned and passed it backwards, or at best sideways.

It's hard to legislate for individual errors and poor decision making but chaos creates chaos.

Yesterday was our 26th different back line in 43 games this season. Almost all individuals have had issues with poor form, injuries or off-field distractions. Pre-season was non-existent and there are bound to some stamina and fatigue issues at this stage.

It's hard to take days like yesterday on the chin but with so many variables they're inevitable. It's testament to the application of the squad and management that we've got on with it as best we can and generally had a very good defensive record.

I find it hard to see why Hecky played a left sided CB on the right one who hasn't played for a few weeks either. I'd have preferred Gordon in there or the new guy as I have never rated Davies, Preston was his level and still is.

Most people seem to have forgotten about this (it does feel like 100 years ago in fairness). Given the fixture congestion and injuries, it's starting to play a major factor in our conditioning.
