I get the feeling that if any of us had the chance to sit down with Porter he'd provide an accurate and realistic assessment of his own abilities.

No big time Charlie, Bertie big bollocks, or whatever term you can apply to many footballers, just some one plying his trade, able to perform in the lower leagues, and occasionally surprise a few of us. I wouldn't wish him back, what would be the point? But it doesn't stop me from recognising the contribution he made while he played for United

Chris Porter should never be denigrated for what he is, but it can't harm to remember him fondly, after all, didn't he contribute to last season's great cup run?

So many years of average and crap performances, he was not good enough for us and if he was any good we would be in the championship by now.

A nice bloke, honest player, really tried hard and good luck to him, but another Matt Hill for me, we should have looked to sign better quality.

The stat side of footy says that you can tell the level of a manager or player after 10 games . Wait and see for Porter who was actually a good servant to the club . Good job SUFC do not work on the statistical side of football , as we didn't pull many trees up at the start of the season.

Porter was at least cheap....
