Stoke boss tells striker to Beatt it

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis and James Beattie were involved in a fierce dressing room bust-up at Arsenal on Saturday.

The pair clashed directly after the 2-0 defeat at the Emirates leading Pulis to order the players to report for extra training today.

The squad had originally been given the day off as it was their Christmas party in London on Saturday night.

Former England striker Beattie, 31, protested on behalf of his team-mates and it is alleged the pair had to be separated by a member of staff as punches were thrown.

The bust-up will put a huge question mark over the future of Beattie, who Pulis signed from Sheffield United last January for £3.5million.

The former Blackburn, Southampton and Everton striker - who came on as sub for Mamady Sidibe - had previously had a good relationship with Pulis, 51.

Wow. I wouldn't start Sidibe in front of Ched Evans, yet alone Beattie.

Soon as I saw this on SSN this morning, I thought, good maybe we can get him back on loan. Probably wont happen though.

Would be great if we could get him back on loan.

You lose at Arsenal and the gaffer cancels christmas? Crumbs...

On the face of it that's a spectacular managerial misjudgement.

Has he been out buying Alloys again?

Apparently Pulis was naked when he attacked Beattie...

Just read and posted in that exact thread :D

Looking back, I can't believe how much I took for granted when we signed a former England international for such a massive fee and on such huge wages.

Can you ever imagine us signing someone of a similar calibre now?

It was actually a fairly strange season to be a Blade that one.

Ahhh... but you're forgetting that he was fat, lazy and had an arrogant hub-cap fetish.

Yeah... strange season :D

We don't need Beattie back, we've got an excellent penalty-taker in Cotter..... oh, hang on!

(Beattie has apparently apologised anyway)

I never did trust Pulis in that daft baseball cap. Maybe this will come back to haunt him like that infamous 'Phil Brown moment'.

Not a chance he'll come back. We can't afford him and he clearly is capable of premiership football. Why on earth would he sign for us? even on loan.

Personally I don't want him back. 40k a week drain on wages when attack is our strongest area. Plus the guy is not a Championship player. And what would be the point in having the skillful on the deck BT up front if we are just going to lump the ball up to him.

We'd be much better spending some money on another good central defender (or 2) and a couple of midfield additions.

Hi all, Stoke fan coming in peace here. Word around Stoke is that TP and Beattie did not "exchange blows" in the dressing room and this is just media horses**t. However I, like other Stoke fans have no doubt that all is not well. Maybe TP is frustrated about Beattie being bothered about missing a day of training before a must win game against Wigan, for a christmas p*ss up, considering how poorly Beattie is playing at the minute. Being a student at Hallam, I'd love to see Beatts back at the Lane for a loan spell to boost his goal scoring and confidence. Beattie kept us up last season and you dont lose class overnight. But I can't see him leaving Stoke as he is, not like at United, a fans favourite in the Potteries.

P.S, I'm looking forward to seeing how s*it Cresswell is tonight as I'l be going to the game, also, how is Andrew Davies looking? I saw him in the Sheffield derby game and he looked very good.
Thanks all.

Is this the same Davies? Pretty shit if you ask me.

I'd take Beattie back in a heartbeat though. I don't think he's the type of player than benefits from being in and out of the side, as Pullis has used him this year.

The problem Pulis has is he has his favourites, namely Cresswell last year until the fans finally drove him out, and Sidibe who can walk back in to the team after 9 months of injury, because he "works haaaaaard" Players like Tuncay and Beattie don't get the chance that his favourites do. Theres only Fuller who has real class who Pulis will start nearly every week.
