Go on I'll say it

According to Pork Talk we will get found out! :):):):).......this from the numpty.......

Yes. United could do with a good, solid home defeat prior to the game at Hillsborough. The problem is that teams such as Derby and Brentford underestimated them, and they've not been in the division long enough to get found out. If Derby were to go to the Lane again next Saturday, I suspect that the result would be very different.

More than one pundit has tipped us to go up, personally I still think we will finish comfortably in mid table. In any case I don't see us propping up the table at any point

There's no need to say anything though is there?

Nobody knows where we'll finish this season, it's unpredictable and it's exciting.

The last thing we need to be doing is expecting a top 6 finish on the basis of the first 6 games. Anything beyond consolidation this season is a bonus. A lack of pressure and expectation should be an advantage of ours.

Fuck talking about promotion for now. We're showing we should be comfortable at this level, let's just be happy with that.

anything is possible with our chris ,said it before he will go for it ,its in his dna,top bloke, top blade, appeh as fuck toneet.:):):):)

has it not emerged already?

If this was January I'd agree, but at the moment it's a bit topsy-turvy and supporters are excited because they're suddenly in the top 6 with 8 points separating us from the bottom 4 clubs. A couple of wins or losses now, as welcome as they are, don't have the same significance as the 'business' end of the season when the games are slipping away.

This thread is developing nicely..............I read a lot of caution during November, December, January, February, and some even in March last season.

We are developing nicely, learning lessons very very quickly about the division and the opposition we come across.

UTB

Not sure but winning is a habit, however we appear to be bloody good at picking ourselves up after a loss or knock.

Of course you make some valid points - but we go to WIN games of football. Huddersfield lost15 games last season and drew very few.

One of CW's main attributes is his positivity in the approach to games and it appears to have rubbed off very quickly on the players.

Lets hope he isn't subject to a bid from Palace in a few weeks time .

You're talking to the converted, so naturally I realise the value of Wilder and Knill to our progress.

Thing is, the unexpected can take over when we least expect it, and as you say, bids for either players or management can bugger up any momentum we might have.

Wilder is the person who gives us momentum (not being disrespectful to the squad), so I hope our board are on top of this and are capable of providing what Wilder needs to take us forward.

Once again you write sense, and yes it could happen - it also, might not.......but, there is every reason to think CW, AK and this particular management team come along once in a blue moon. Since 1967, this is, IMHO, my 4th.

All we can do is our little bit...........my next bit is Bolton on Tuesday night, which is the next game.

A bit of trivia for you to put Wilder's achievements into perspective: Last manager to go from the Fourth to the First in four seasons did so in the late 70s/early 80s. He got an MBE for it.

Approaching 40 years on with a different footballing climate, for a man to climb three tiers in three years is simply incredible.

I have no idea if promotion is possible, depends how far we can get on team spirit and togetherness. Been a long time since I've seen such a connection between staff, players and fans. Long may the ride continue.

i still be chuffed to bits with 12th place. we cant let expectations rise because of good start. lets just re check in January who knows for me its not realistic

ill be breaking out the champagne on 55pts

The question is, are our players really wank and we're just getting by on sheer work rate and team spirit like the other half tell us? Or are the bulk of our players actually top end Championship quality? Or is it some of both?

Are we really promotion/play off contenders this season? Personally don't see why not.
Far to early, fantastic to get a great start but consider where we were at this stage last season and how that changed! Can't see why we won't be competitive this year but we can't get disheartened if a few results don't go our way - remember where we have come from, keep CW and keep building and anything can happen - UTBs

From what i saw of the championship last season and again so far this season, we have every chance of top 6. With Wilder in charge, owt is possible. Even a playoff final win !

SB I think like you say it's a bit of both, I wouldn't swap our midfield for any other in the division. Can we score enough, who knows but if we stay together and outwork the opposition always got a chance.

I knew before a ball was kicked we would have enough fight about us to avoid a relegation scrap.

What I didn't know - and still don't - is just how good this squad is.

We currently sit 5th having played a decent cross section of what the division has to offer so it's not a false position by any stretch. All digits crossed we keep on doing what we're doing and I can say the same at Christmas. If we do, then talk of promotion can begin.

Our midfield is the best kept secret in English football.

Go on I will say it - We really are a good team where everyone knows what they are doing. We will be minimum play offs and said it before we started the season.

Early days. But Leeds, Boro and Cardiff have the look of squads that will occupy 3 of the 6 top spots.

Which leaves 3 spaces.

I believe we will occupy one of these.

UTB

P.S we already have Cardiff and Boro away chalked off. Some easier (on paper) games to come.

This league is full of proper clubs - to quote Tufty.

Every game is a pleasure to watch and be a part of as a Blade. Every good result then takes us closer to guaranteeing at least the same next season. When that is done every good result will take us closer to the playoffs. But achieving that isn't desperate, because we haven't spunked money and we love who we are. Life is a journey again and not a desperate longing for a destination.

Somebody should show the video of today's game to Sinclair and Cole and watch them cry.

Then give them the phone number of the new Cheeef and ask him how he enjoyed his day. Even his new battle scars will be special. Being older he knows already what being a Blade is going to mean to him.
