But the worst thing you can do is imagine the future is a forward prediction of the past.

It needn’t be. It could be different.

Football is part of the entertainment business. More so now than ever before.

If this city had a team that was regularly hosting the top teams and footballers on the world stage, people would come and watch.

They may not all be die hard Blades. But we’d attract an additional audience.

My next door neighbour was raised in India. He’s a Brit btw. But he supports Arsenal (for some reason even though he’s not a Londoner!).

When we played Spurs in the Cup a few years ago, he came to the match, along with his 6 kids. Because it was of interest to him. And they all left feeling partisan to the Blades.

They knew we shouldn’t have stood a chance, but they saw how human spirit and endeavour can match money and big name players, on such an occasion. They’d never been to see a football match in Sheffield before that. But they come (admittedly only occasionally) since. They’d be there every other week if we were in the Prem.

And so would many more.

Yes they are fairweather fans. But there are thousands more like them.

“Build it and they will come”.

That’s what we should be aiming for.

In order to ensure we don't suffer the same fate I suggest we remove about 6,000 seats from Bramall Lane

Either that or we could give the Safety Commitee all the excuses they need by standing up and chanting loudly, they'd soon have 6,000 seats closed down if that sort of mindless behaviour broke out

Easy hit 38K for a few games.. Don't underestimate the power of the Prem. With a 40K capacity we would still hit about 95% capacity.
