Why are we ruling players out on age? If Adam and Johnson are too old then we should be looking to sell Sharp, Clarke and Duffy shouldn’t we?

If Adam and Johnson get paid up by Stoke then they will be on £0 per week, they can’t and won’t demand their current Stoke salaries because no one will pay it!

Having said all that, I'm sure if I would sign either, but dismissing them as old, on the way down mercenaries is daft. Plenty of older players have dropped down the leagues and turned out to be great signings.

Think people need to realise times have changed and the 2017 equivalent of Stuart McCall is Darren Fletcher who must be on £50k + thankfully this just isn’t an option anymore and I for one am glad
