Do match officials have a pre-match check of time pieces and Hawkeye watch before kick off..? Seems a bit half arsed if they have just taken it for granted that everything was up and running ok.

Glad Hawkeye don't operate anything to do with aviation FFS:oops:

I believe the match officials, as part of their preparation, do check hawkeye before every game.
Allegedly, during half time (4 minutes or so after the incident) as the subs were on the pitch & firing into the net, the ref's watch was going off like fuck (as it should).
I can't help thinking that they only realised it wasn't switched on, when the fuck up happened & then switched it on.
Whatever, it's a disgrace.

There's some pretty shonky quality products in aviation.

Supposedly it was a check to see if it was working because it didn't go off after the goal line tech company realised their system had not done its job. Thanks for f'in nothing. Take it out on The Toon.

Typical, can't blame the ref though as they are under the impression that their watch vibrates if its a goal
A fine example of the tail wagging the dog
Sorry. IMO the referee is in charge and if they must have technology, it should merely assist the ref whose judgement and decision is final
All the ref had to do was use his brain cell and look at the TV monitors that clearly indicated that a goal had been scored
Are we going down the road where technology will make the referee redundant?
In the interest of fairness to us. And the clubs fighting relegation The absurd decision must be reconsidered and all three points awarded to the Blades. Don’t hold your breath though Money is King

If sharp as captain had really had a go at the ref to request VAR, or made him look at the pitch side monitor (remember that?) then he could have pestered him into it, risking a yellow card which would have been overturned, problem with our players is we are too polite to the refs, so they know they can give weak excuses and we take it, wilders only weakness is he doesn't complain at bad decisions, normally it's not a weakness, but in this division you have to get in the refs face or you don't get the decision..

Can you imagine arsenal players, and how they'd pressure the ref? This would have been reviewed, the players should have surrounded him, and stopped play for as long as possible..

Victims for being too nice..

This is more or less exactly what happened.

I don't think we'll ever find out the real reason it didn't work properly. Hawk eyes own statement makes no sense and is contradictory.

They say due to the defender, GK and post that the cameras were blocked when their own website says the tech removes the players for a clear view. It also doesn't explain how they were able to alert the ref it crossed the line at half time.

I honestly think there's some stupid human error that's occurred which would be too embarrassing to admit (forgot to turn camera on, watch wasn't charged, they only tested the net at the other end etc).

Njce guy always finishes last

A look at the league table tonight with Villa in 3rd.

Wouldn’t we have gone 5th if that goal had stood and they’d have been much closer to being a certainty to go down?

How times have changed!
