I'm getting very annoyed at the knockers on this forum, a serious reality check is needed by many posters (No I won't name you). My main points in answer to all the "negatives" on here are :-

1) Of the top clubs we have been as good as Newcastle, WBA and better than Forest so far this season.
2) Yes Leicester were better first half (admitted by Blackwell post match) but we were better second half.
3) In this division it could be the bottom clubs that surprise teams - look at Wednesdays result:eek:
4) We will loose some matches - only Arsenal ever achieved the impossible.
5) We have had an awful injury run.
6) All Blackwells signings are not bad - Henderson, Ward, Williamson, Camara are examples. Anyone expecting a 100% success rate doesn't understand football.
7) Blackwell has had to rebuild the side from last season, he deserves and has earned the right to at least one season to do that.

Finally lets have some more positives or constructive criticism rather than the usual very predictable Blackwell out.

Thankyou.

Have you heard of this thing called "The League Table"??

Sort of destroys point 1 really.

I think that's totally and utterly fair in what you have written but here comes the inevitable 'but'...Blackwell made mistakes again yesterday - ones that could have and should have been avoided. A left back (a very poor one at that) playing right wing (albeit for only a few minutes); allowing Walker to remain on the pitch after substituting Taylor and thus wasting a substitution was a ridiculous decision; not being a little more attack minded against two very young and inexperienced centre halves. That game was there for the taking against a rather ordinary Leicester side. Will we regret it at the end of the season...probably. Not a criticism...merely an observation.

As soon as you take Walker off you use a substitution so where is the waste?
If he could run it off he was better than Geary.

Remember we had that right back? Ya know the other one called Kyle? whatever happend to him?

Another observation, not a criticism
The game was there for the taking at QPR.

Dear Mr McCabe

Please sack Blackwell.

Cheers

However, the substitution of Taylor would've been deemed foolish...substituting both full backs when one was injured seems unneccesary. If Walker was injured, as it proved to be the case, then Taylor should've had a rocket and told to raise his game - not taken off. Just my opinion of course.

Sorry but those who advocate Blackwell Out frequently post eloquent, reasoned arguments in support of their case. You must have overlooked them.

I'll sum it up in a nutshell: He was not a footballer. He does not understand the game. He is fearful of talent in others because he had none. He coaches his teams to play agricultural, unskilled, tedious football that would embarrass a Conference team. He is negative and unimaginative. He loses his nerve on the big occasions, because deep down he knows he doesn't belong there.

I stopped reading this after this point.
We have been awful this season, bar a few games. Newcastle and WBA have been better than us hence the higher league position.

A reasoned argument isn't one which claims to know what's going on inside someone else's head. You may be right about his style of management, but the pop psychology is really personal abuse dressed up as reason.

In response to opening poster:

Just because some folk here are posting negative comments does not mean that they are not supporting the team.

I was disgusted with the tactics employed by 'Keep-it-tight-at-the-Backwell' in the first half yesterday. It was no reward for those 1500-2000 or so Blades that travelled down in sub-zero tempreatures, paid £27 for a ticket and whatever else on coaches/petrol/trains at Christmas when the game was on TV. Personally, I was ill as well but I went and I sang and supported the team. There were no boos in the away end except for some half-hearted attempts at half time by a few. The support the team got last night was excellent. Yet we are castigated for being too negative afterwards on an internet forum.

I supported my team fully last night. But I was rewarded with a tactical set-up that defied logic and when he was forced to change it - and he was forced by the score - we instantly looked better. Not the better side because it was even in the second half for me but we were better than we had been. The damage had been done though. It is clear to me - and plenty of others - that Blackwell (despite his great job in the last half of the last two seasons) is not the man to lead us back to the top level. I would personally give him time to get us to fifty points and then I'd get rid and give a new manager time to sort it for next season as there is no chance of us going up.

Yes, I - like many others - am very negative about last night and the performances in general this season. But it is an insult to claim that we are not supporting our club because there was an awful lot of support in evidence last night that in many cases (Blackwell, Kilgallon, Taylor, Quinn and Harper) was undeserved.

Stewart had a stinker on the wing at QPR - was amazed to see him there again. Should have been subbed for Little - give him a chance

Good, passionate post Tony but quite simpley a load of garbage I'm afraid for me. It's great that there are still people who think like you because it restores my faith in human kind, especially at this time when the country is in a mess and loyalty is in short supply.

Williamson has not been a good signing.

Your point 3 suggests to me you see us a a bottom side.

It really annoys me that you think I and various others don't understand football but it looks like I annoy and you annoy me so that's fair enough aint it?

Spot on. I drove to the game from Norwich despite it being on Sky and i supported the shirt as i always have and always will, but, i'm happy to admit that my continued support for KB is now dwindling also. I've always tried to be open minded about his management and tactical awareness but yesterday really was another great example of the man losing it big time. Andy Taylor! FFS! Jordan Stewart also!! IMO WTF are these men doing donning our beloved red & white. Week in, week out it's clear for everyone to see that these men simply aren't good enough.
I'm not going to shout about what the answer is because i honestly don't know. It looks to me that whoever we sign in january, if they've come from good footballing sides, there reputations as FOOTBALLERS will be quashed almost immediately.
I know it's our first defeat in a while and we've suffered a lot of injuries this season but KB is NOT the man(IMO) to take this club back to the promised land. Oh, and i'd be delighted to hold my hands up at the end of the season and admit i was wrong if he achieves it.
COYRWW

I do get behind our team wherever we go. We were 2-0 down and playing like a set of idiots in the first half yesterday but I was still singing away.

I'd rather see people voicing their concerns on here than at the game personally, but each to their own.

I try to offer constructive criticism about what's happening, as do alot of people on the forum from what I read. But, for me it's not our job to be doing such a thing, because we're not paid thousands of pounds a week to be deciding what's right for the football club. Unfortunately, the manager that is getting paid this money isn't getting it right for us in my opinion.

It's a catch 22, people will always be negative and others positive. If the board had such a problem with our performance and league standing, they'd be finding a replacement for our manager.

He's in the top half of the table, trickling in some wins and draws, we are making some cash off being on sky, and whatnot. So why do they even need to change anything?

We have ambition, but all in good time and not in the short term either, think more long term. The footballing side is running alright, which is why they won't rock the boat, but don't take my word for it....what do I know anyways ;)

1) Of the top clubs we have been as good as Newcastle, WBA and better than Forest so far this season.
That's highly debatable. Perhaps if we'd been as good as Newcastle we wouldn't have lost. We certainly weren't as lucky as them. They created chances, and got lucky. We didn't. Being good and being lucky aren't the same thing, but it would have helped if we'd been as good. We were a close second, but second none the less.
...........constructive criticism
Okay then. We've been very hit-and-miss. Sometimes we look like we could destroy any team put before us, sometimes we look like Girls Aloud could outplay us, and most of the time we are a crappy in between sort of side. Which is not what you'd expect given the quality of players at Blackwell's disposal. Is it their fault? Individuals can be blamed for their own faults, but not for the tactics or formation. Leicester's penalty was Monty's fault, but the general performance or choice of formation wasn't.

Not really. It's a good point, but the league table is only a pointer to how well a team is doing at this stage of the season. Until you have played all your fixtures there will be fluctuation. Look at teams that end up in a very different position at the end of the season compared to the one they enjoyed at Christmas. I have however seen nothing to indicate that the table will be vastly different at the end of the season. Newcastle will still be top, Peterborough will be at the arse-end, Wednesday will be below us, and we'll be in the top half. Whether that's in the play-off positions or just above halfway is anybody's guess. We've all seen enough this season to show that we could take the league by storm next year, or totally cock it up and finish half way.
