Often disappointed, never discouraged
A draw at Aston Villa isn’t a bad result
A loss away to Newcastle wasn’t great
A loss away to Man Utd expected
Only the Newcastle game before hand we expected to get soemthing. We were heading for a draw until Egan got himself sent off and Enda missed the ball.
The premier league is unforgiving but got to look at the bigger picture.
Correct.
Performance-wise, last night was much improved than both previous games. i feel if we had played like that against Newcastle, we would've got a point at least.
The worries I have are:
We need to get out of this mini-blip
- We haven't scored since lockdown (Villa fuck up aside)
- We have a VERY tough fixture list coming up
starting this weekend in the cup.
It’s a shame these 3 games have fallen in this order for us, post-lockdown.
Before the break we’d have looked forward to Old Trafford, confident we might get something, but not too down if we didn’t. Of the three games so far, it was always the one we could write off if need be. So, ideally we’d prob have had Man Utd first up after the resumption, and got it out of the way while still rusty.
Play them first and lose, and we’re not as dispirited as we were after Villa Park. Which potentially increases the chance of us getting a point in the following game, vs either Villa or Newc. By which point you’d hope we’d be up and running again, with the confidence to have a decent shot at three points off either of those two in the third game.
Ifs, buts and maybes of course. And it may not have made any difference. And obviously we need to just get on with it, whatever the order.
