Personally, from what I’ve seen over the years Long isn’t a championship goalkeeper. He was a fairly decent shot stopper but was often a liability commanding his box. He had some decent games but they were outweighed by his calamity performances. Wish him well and though he occasionally got unwarranted grief i just don’t think he’s good enough. Obviously Adkins sees something the rest of us don’t....... but that wouldn’t be the first time would it?

I haven’t actually argued once during this discussion, maybe you’ve just read it that way.

I asked how you knew that Long was ‘mute’ when he played for us. It’s something I’ve seen said before but I never hear any of our keepers so I wasn’t sure how you would know. You said it was obvious because of how the defenders reacted, which doesn’t make it that obvious, as it wasn’t to me. You also have to consider that the defenders at the time were the type to blame others before themselves.

Your argument then went off on a tangent and I couldn’t see what you meant.

I apologise if you thought I was trying to cause an argument, it wasn’t intended that way

He gave the away end a nice round of applause today. Unfortunately it coincided with us applauding the subs as they headed to the bench before the 2nd half started, so I’m not sure if he thought the big applause was for him and responded. Once I realised Long was applauding us, I diverted some of my applause his way, though I imagine it may have been difficult to tell who was clapping whom.
