I've nothing against signing any pig player ,
the cunt curran being the only exception I just dont think he's that good , theirs better out there , and George , in my opinion can only develop better as a player , with us .
Is there many better out there on a free though? If so I'd like to know who...

million dollar question - lets hope Wilder/Knill et al are better at it than the previous incumbants.

As for George - I would like to see him with a pair of decent (stable) centre halves that he can trust. Any keeper would have been better with someone like Morgs in front of you and we haven't had anything like that since he hung up his boots.

There has been a lot of criticism from various sources with George and Howard for that matter and our poor goalkeeping has coincided with masses of changes with centre halves.

My instinct is the Wilder/Knill know what they are doing and will hopefully sort out this key area.

Objection your honour!

No pig fans in town, nor their ex players either. There are 90 other clubs to chose from so we do not want their rejects.

I've only just got over Curran signing!

Off for a lie down in a darkened room......

Del Geary ?

Long is not the finished article yet and I am happy for him to continue his development with us.
We are under pressure to be a top 6 if not top 2 side and he is not YET a goalie for a top 2 team.
If CW means to finish in the top 2 this season , I am sure he is looking for an older goalie.
As CW has said on radio , goalies form depends a lot on confidence.
It is tough to keep confidence up as a young developing goalie , especially if you lose 4-0 on opening day.

I think I'd written off Long's career with us as I was returning from the opening game – genuinely didn't think we'd see him again in the league. But in fairness to him, he bounced back pretty well and overall had a decent season I thought – albeit with a few errors mixed in. That was one of the calls I thought Adkins was ultimately right to have made. Overall, he was an improvement on Howard (in terms of what Howard had become) – and I think the potential is there for him to improve further. I'd be much happier if we brought in a better first choice, but given the numbers we need to bring in we should be prioritising elsewhere for now.

Out of curiosity I had a look at how users of this forum rated his season. He was 2nd to Baptiste in average rating (on 6.71), and ahead of everyone by some clear margin on MOTM awards (10 overall, 2nd place was 5). I'm amazed Sharp didn't top both easily.

Below is his average rating awarded for each game (7 = Gills, the 6 before were non-rated preseason games, 27 is where he returned in the league).

Good post mate, it's easy to remember games where he's made howlers but there are plenty of games where he was the difference.

probably ought to be mentioned that any mistakes he's made recently is when we've had no good centre backs and an on loan traffic cone doing invisible work in front of them. long's the last line of defence but cutting down the number of times it gets to him is also somewhat important
