I hope he has a 24hour call back.

I would be very surprised if we do - I thought the 6 month/12 month loans don't allow it, other than during a transfer window. I'd imagine if Howard got injured for a significant amount of time we'd loan someone in on a temporary basis.

England youth international and tipped to be better than Long by many who have compared the two.
We are blessed in that dept just not so for lads that find the back of the onion bag

Until he makes any appearance in the first team, I think the expectations should be kept down somewhat - regardless of all the talk. Jamie Annerson was called into the England set-up and never ended up playing a game for us.

Also Paul Heritage was the England u16s keeper when he was in our books in the early 1990s

Joined on loan until January, Oxford confirm this morning

I might be making this up... but I thought the rules on recalls were different if it was a keeper?

If Paddy comes back expect a shit storm!!

I cant see that happening though given the circumstances of his departure.

Not making it up...

The roolz: http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20130704/section-6-players_2293633_2125731

53.2.2 Subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. Any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between both Clubs and the Player but can only be completed after the expiry of 28 days and only during a Transfer Window (but subject to Regulation 53.2.3 below).

53.2.3 A Player whose Standard Loan expires (or terminates) on completion of his Loaning Club's League Matches will not be eligible to play for his Parent Club (where it is a Member Club) in any remaining League Matches in that Season notwithstanding the fact that such expiry or termination occurs during a Transfer Window.

53.2.4 Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulation 53.2.2, a Standard Loan of a goalkeeper (but not otherwise) may be subject to a recall clause exercisable at any time. Any recall may only be implemented in extenuating circumstances and with the consent of the Executive, such extenuating circumstances to be determined in the Executive's absolute discretion. A goalkeeper shall not be permitted to resume any Standard Loan following the exercise of a recall.

hope he plays for Oxford and does well. also hope we can recall him at the drop of a hat if howard gets injured again.

Good luck George. I presume we'd have only let him out if he was going to be first choice there. Quite a gamble for Oxford to take, but on his day he can be a great shot stopper, as we saw when he first came into the team.

There is nothing on Uniteds official website about this. Have Oxford jumped the gun?

If it's here with a [CONFIRMED] it's either happened or definitely happening :)

Just add "knowing loan keeper recall rules" to the list of useless information I manage to retain.

I hope you've got some tipex...

Clough just confirmed to Andy Giddens that you can't recall "window-to-window" loans. Only exception for goalkeepers is if every other professional keeper at the club is injured. I'm guessing Willis now has a professional contract, so presumably it's as I thought initially - we'd loan someone in if Howard picks up a lengthly injury.
