John Beresford on Allan Biggs show tonight "joking" about GH maybe coming to us.....
Just watched that myself. Seems very “in” with old man Hirst from his comments earlier in the show and pretty knowledgable on the situation.

Maybe Beresford's an ITKer! Either that or he’s just partaking in a spot of pork- winding.

Thought JB came across as a great bloke by the way. Always assumed he’d end up playing for us at some point.

May have been a windup but could have been planting a seed. Either way pig fans won't be happy, let's not push too hard as we don't want the Portuguese mystro sacking do we.!!

Still hearing rumours that he could be signing for us.

Although it does seem like George and his dad just want to fuck Wednesday off for not giving him a chance.

Interesting might be 2 and 2 is 5 but.....
Yesterdays CW interview of whilst praising our former stars for their support made an oblique remark that older former players at other clubs don't always want their clubs to do well .

I would like to see us sign Hurst!
Only if you promise to learn to spell his name correctly! It's bad enough on here with people who keep spelling Brooks with an "e" at the end, or Clarke without an "e" at the end, or even Sharp, with an "e" at the end. But if we go and sign George Hirst and folk like you keep spelling it with a "u" instead of an "i" I think I may just crack up.

I like to look back at old posts so here we go again, since the last post before me they’ve got a new manager and this Karen Meire woman, more importantly their accounts have come to the surface.

Any previous posters changed their minds on signing him ourselves?

Hurst won't sign for the Blades despite the mischief making of some Blades.

I personally see it as a good fit, I’m sure Wilder and Hirst senior will have crossed paths and most probably still do cross paths plus Brooks and Hirst have played together at England and against each other at youth level so another point for “tapping up” there. Either way it’s a good way of getting them lot nervous by talking about it !

Be funny as fuck but he’ll go to a PL side imo. Leicester been sniffing haven’t they?

According to one of his team mates Leicester have told him they'll pay him £15k a week. He asked for £12k a week from Wednesday who said no but gave him an extra £500 a week instead (no idea what he's currently on)

Too big and costly a risk on an unproven talent for Utd to go for him IMHO. What would he cost? ~£2m plus a salary towards the top of a current range for a player that has played 1 senior game and is by no means guaranteed to be able to perform consistently at Champ level and with a strong requirement for him to deliver.

As such and as others have said, it is more likely a Prem club will be more able & willing to take such a punt on someone who could turn out to be anything (from a future international player to the next Jordan Slew).

He’d cost nowhere near £2M as it stands.

Apparently the new manager wants to play him, but Chansiri has 'banned' him from playing for the first team - seriously WTF is going on over there?!

Loads of rumours earlier in the season that Chansiri is a bit of a control freak, and it’s his way only. Hirst was banned from the training ground until recently cause he wouldn’t agree to a contract. I hope Chansiri keeps up the good work.

Tbf he's right. Why does he deserve 12k a week? If he applied that logic to all there players they wouldn't be in the mess there in.

He might be right not paying him £12k a week but is he right banning him from playing games for the first team or under 23's? Not playing him will mean they will get less than they should if his transfer goes to tribunal.

True, that part not so good. That should be the managers call.

He didn’t ask for the £12k, he asked to either get more first team football at the pigs or be sent out on loan and at the time for one reason or another the pigs wouldn’t agree to any of them.

After seeing Brooks get his chances at first team level it’s understandable why Hirst thought he should’ve had the chance to prove himself after both playing well together at the Toulon tournament.

According to one of his team mates he did.

..maybe but Brooks and Hirst up front for the Blades next season might be a goer! ;)

The problem for for me Esa, is that if Hurst fails at United he would be just become a fat piggy barsteward with some of our fans. Too much pressure for him to succeed coming from S6 and as to who his dad is/was.

Some of our fans are unforgiving with anything S6.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Rostron, Bradshaw, Bromby, Geary never had any problems. Morrison and Marwood weren't successes but I don't recall any vitriol towards them purely as a result of a blue & white past. The only guy who copped a load before a ball was kicked was Danny Wilson as manager, which I think most people look back on now as an absurd show of petulance by some of our fans.
I doubt very much Hirst will end up here but if he did I'm sure he would only get abuse for shirking, same as any other player.
When it comes to 'defections', I like to think we are the bigger man.

I’ve heard this from a senior person in the pigs academy structure who is a family friend. He says they are basically wasting their time with the youth setup as he wants to play the “stars” who he’s paying the big salaries to. The bloke I know has had years at other clubs with great academies and has brought through 2 or 3 of the current England squad. He says he’s basically just waiting to be told to leave now so he can retire but while they still pay him and he lives fairly local he’ll turn up for work.

I think Richard Cresswell got some stick at first, but turned it round by scoring a good few goals for us and for being the man who did the donkey work for Ched Evans. He will always be remembered by me for his, "look behind you" goal against Plymouth Argyle.

Said it before and will say it again, when Cresswell was "booed" onto the pitch, making his first appearance for us, I wanted the ground to swallow me up, It was fuckin' embarrassing from our "fans". The blokes was tough and rugged and never bottled a hard tackle, he got stuck in and scored goals.
