I don’t even think arguably tbh,
Yeah, the only reason I said arguably is because I didn't start going properly til the mid 00's, first game was around 02/03 ( i was 7) but first time I went somewhat regularly was around 08/09.

That's the best blades back line + keeper I've ever seen, but people quite a bit older than me might think differently as they saw the likes of Badger, Helmsley etc.

Hmm disagree with that tbh. One of my heroes growing up was Graham Thorpe. He died and his family made the brave decision to come out and tell the world the full facts of what had happened as they felt it might help others. There’s a lot that can be learnt from death. I have never for one minute said I had a right to know what had happened and if his family don’t want to make it public that’s completely their right.

They did that a week after his death though, not straight away.

Has there been anything released from Chris, as I bet he’s inconsolable with how long he’s worked with him, he’ll have had no doubt a special bond with what they’ve been through.

I can only imagine how he is feeling but it is bound to be the first question at the next press conference. We've seen before that Chris can get very emotional, and who could blame him if he does over this when asked.

Jnr met him a couple of years ago in our local cafe. Him and Fleck we're having breakfast after a win the day before. Dan wanted a pic but I said people didn't always want to do that - why not be old school and ask for an autograph. He did and they couldn't have been sweeter. George chatted to him for a bit, asking him about what he thought of the win, what position he played at school. He was lovely. Seeing the pic of him and his little boy broke me last night.

Would it be possible to get one of those massive flags with a photo of George on it to display by the fans on the Kop at the Stoke game? Just putting it out there..we could all sing the Elvis song ...not a dry eye in the stadium..I'm filling up now thinking about it..thoughts?

Terrible, terrible news. RIP George, you were one of our own.
I was chatting to someone close to him at the club and they said that you couldn’t wish to meet a better person. He always believed that he should be given the the man of the match award and genuinely believed he should have been playing for England. It amused everyone around him and it made me laugh when I heard it, because every time I watched him I thought yes you are the best and yes you should win man of the match and you should play for England not because he should have got all of those all of the time but wtf it was his spirit that counted and that’s why he appealed to me. RIP George (you are and will always remain the best)
Your heartfelt words are mirrored everywhere 🙏Particularly a tribute from Winkleman at MK Don's.
Worth a watch on You Tube if you've not seen it🙏

A marmite character but a nice tribute

agree with him over Baldock , he could have followed in Wilders footsteps and gone on to manage , He had the drive and desire to put the work in.
Football has lost out on someone who could give even more in the future , but sadly its not to be

Before Sydney, I worked for Network Rail in Milton Keynes. Over the years I met Pete Winkleman a few times and heard him deliver several speeches. He is a very passionate football man and really wanted what’s best when he picked up Wimbledon and moved them rather than see the club go under. He doesn’t deserve even 1% of the flack he gets - much of which is at a vicious personal level.

Per usual he speaks well about George and from the heart. Sad for him, George’s family and us blades. RIP George 🔴⚪⚔️🔴⚪

I’m pretty strong and don’t show my emotions easily.I have been really struck by the passing of George,I can’t explain how I have been more choked by this than when relatives have died.If there is something after this I really hope that George is tearing up and down the heavenly turf.He never let us down, the best right back in my time watching the Blades. You could count on one hand the number of games where he under performed.Such a loss,God bless you George Baldock, the worlds a sadder place without you.

We were saying last night as we watched the England v Greece game that the huge outpouring of sympathy from the global football family has been amazing and for an obvious untimely death, almost unprecedented. Footballers die just like normal folk and although he wasn't a global superstar by any stretch of the imagination his death appears to have touched a lot of people.

I want to believe this is our red and white Starman in the sky tonight.

Lovely thing to say.

Woke up yesterday to this news and being out in Cyprus I’m disconnected in some ways. But I’ve read pretty much every lovely comment on here and social media. He was clearly a player and a person that touched in so many ways.

I saw this pic yesterday and just seen it on BBC with the comments from Alan Biggs

Following the sad news of his tragic death, Biggs posted a picture of Baldock, taken moments after Sheffield United had secured promotion back to the Premier League with a victory against West Brom in April 2023.

Biggs added: "I was broadcasting that night. Most of the players had gone down the tunnel, George had been down but he appeared again in the technical area.

"I went over and said congratulations and asked if I could take a photo and he said yes. I just thought what a picture of bliss he was, absolute happiness. He was exhausted, elated

31, you don’t expect it and he had so much to live for, but he leaves us, having impacted fans, players and people alike. As you say Klaatu Barada Nikto the sky lit up for George yesterday and I hope he’s sitting in the dug out in the sky with a beer, cheering Greece, the blades and all his other teams on.

Personally, I’ll drink to him.
